I guess there weren't lots of other great ways to shore up that weakness. Let's hope Rex gets on his back and stays there
Hopefully Rex can get his head on straight. Between Gholston and Cromartie, Ryan is going to have quite a bit to deal with as far as unmotivated, soft players go.
According to Adam Schefter, it can be a 2nd Round pick if playing time and Jets performance requirements are met.
Don't you think you're going alittle overboard? Yes Cromartie is inconsistent but so are a number of corners in this league including a guy about to make a huge payday in Dunta Robinson. Cromartie is guy that fits this scheme perfectly and is absolutely oozing w/ talent. He's a clear upgrade over both Sheppard and Lowery and is still developing.
cro is a player under contract.there was no circumventing. i think its a decent moveif he's good enough to be the #2 next year he's worth a 2nd.worst case he'll be the nickel and thats worth a third.plus we still have our picks this year.this frees us up to take a rb early if we want or depth in both lines with our 1st and 2nd.
He's been healthy throughout his career, playing in every regular season game of his career. This pick is almost guaranteed to be a 2nd unless the Jets draft a corner and put him on a rotation with Cromartie...which would make absolutely no sense.
actually he is an upgrade over every player u just mentioned. a 3rd rnd im ok with in 2011. i wonder how much he needs to play for it to be a 2nd.
I like Cromartie because he gives the secondary some name recognition and is better in man coverage than playing in zone. The chargers play zone and so his production took a small dip. Playing opposite Revis Island will certainly give him the same trouble that Lito had to deal with -- QBs forcing the ball his way since Revis is the ultimate shutdown corner in the league. So, if he can listen to Rex, ignore his 7+ paternity issues and not give up on plays that caused the Chargers to give up a solid 50 yard+ run to the Jets in the divisional round (GO SHONN GREENE!), then we're in business. If not, kiss our 2nd or 3rd rounder goodbye to a afc rival. Right now, I like the deal.
