Adam_Schefter Filed to ESPN: Chargers traded cornerback Antonio Cromartie to Jets for a 2011 third-round pick that could turn to a second. Adam_Schefter Chargers get a 2011 third-round pick that turns to a second-round pick based on Antonio Cromartie's play time and the Jets performance. Multiple sources confirmed, it is official.
People might bash me for this, but I LOVE this move for them. Cromartie has that explosiveness and can take a pick to the house on any interception he gets.
AGREED!!.. im trying to get this post in because i know there a lot of ppl that think Cro is bad.. and a 2nd rounder is too high to give up.. but i can't wait to see him and green and white..
There's no denying it, Cromartie is a hell of a talent. I trust Rex more then anyone to make these kinds of moves, he knows way more then any of us do about the type of guys he wants, and of the guy he just got. Cromartie is a playmaker and has the ability, especially being tutored by Revis, to be an awesome #2 corner.
Let's hope he shows a -little- more heart with this change of scenery. The league's top defense and a coach with some balls instead of none, that's got to mean something to him.
just posted in the other thread.i like it.again tanny is filling all the holes so we can go bpa in the draft.
A great move for the Jets, I'm 100% on board. I don't love trading future picks, but the fact that it's a 3rd that could be at best a 2nd doesn't really bother me that much. He's a good corner that still has a lot of potential, who makes for a fantastic #2.
Yeah, agreed...lets just hope he has to do some insane stuff for it to get escalated to a 2nd round pick.
I think the biggest key is how well he fits our scheme. His size and recovery speed make him freakish for a bump and run type scheme. SD couldnt do alot of that b/c Quentin Jammer is more of a zone CB.
I also love this move. As a second corner he'll be great, take some of that pressure that the secondary feels from the blitzes. Also totally changes our draft...I guess that means we're going DE in the first round. At the end of the day, this team is poised for a run in the next three-five years, so Cromartie is better than any guy we'd get in the 2nd round (which is most likely what the pick will be).
It's funny to see all the support for him come out of the woodworks just now. Not an hour ago a single mention of the guy would have brought out all kinds of venom from the board
