According to Daniel Jeremiah of MovingTheSticks.com,

restricted free agent MLB Kirk Morrison is generating "a lot of buzz around the league" after the Raiders tendered him at the mere original pick level.
"Someone will give up a (third-rounder) for him," Jeremiah states. Highly athletic and productive, Morrison could probably play any of the three linebacker positions. He's been Oakland's Mike 'backer for the last five years.

I can definitely see the pats picking this kid up with all of the picks they have this year. If this happens it is definitely bad news for us.

Yeah, this should be the NFL forum. And why the hell would oakland give him a 3 tender? He is a helluva LB, probably could have easily gotten a 2nd.

You can bet the Pats will have plenty of competion to sign this guy. He would be a perfect fit for the Giants.

Of course the Raiders still can match, then keep him or work a trade.

he's never really rushed the passer, but he can cover any TE and flies around the football field.

Solid ILB to put next to Mayo. I can see the Giants taking this and running so that their 1st round pick isn't spent on a backer. This is a better guarantee for less

You know when you are playing a game with some friends or online and someone gets tired of losing and starts to play bad and making bad decisions on purpose just to ruin the fun for everyone else; Al Davis and Raiders are really coming along as that kid..

    That's a very good analogy.

In Oakland, the deciding factor on who gets the higher tender is a foot race to the street corner.

    That's boring.

    The interesting comparison is this...

Starting LB Kirk Morrison: 3rd round tender
Long snapper Jon Condo: 2nd round tender

    Discuss.

Morrisons a poor mans David Harris. The guys an absolute tackling machine. If the guy could rush the passer id be begging for the Jets to pick him up

    Lol.
I guess Al Davis is pretty high on his kick/punt 'battery'.

They have been getting a lot of action...

If we somehow deal Sherry for a 3rd, is there a chance we get him somehow?

You just can never have enough good LBs on a team...

He's an RFA no one is going to sign him away even with that tender unless the raiders really want him gone, remember the Raiders can still match, so he only goes for a 3rd if someone signs him to a huge deal. If not the raiders are free to trade him to an interested team for whatever they want or just match and keep him. It's a 3rd because they used the original pick tender on him, basically they weren't sure if anyone would make an offer if it would cost them a 2nd should the raiders fail to match (a good decision i doubt anyone would have) this way they are more likely to be able to see who is interested in Morrison.
Vilma only got a 3rd, and he didn't need a new contract.

You're severely underestimating the power of the poison pill.
