Honestly, Thomas Jones stats make it seem as though he is this magnificent back. I have watched majority of the Jets games this season and just was not impressed. With the holes that our o-line paved, I felt if another back were to replace Jones they would have taken advantaged and done more damage. Thomas hits the hole and lowers his head and that's it. He doesn't fight for yards, he does't juke or use agility to create for himself and get more yards. People on this forum will give me shit. But deep down inside you all know I am right and that Thomas Jones is overrated. You put any back behind this o-line and they will perform. Thomas Jones stats are impressive but if you watched the games you will understand what I am talking about. He is a simple back and I wish him well.
I tend to agree here, I never really liked the way he ran. It always seemed like he would just fall backwards to avoid contact. With that offensive line, and 23 carries a game, I could be a 1400 yard rusher
You watched a "majority of the games" this season? Wow, we will take your word for it then, it's not like all of us have watched all of them...
He is not flashy, but he is productive, and he was a perfect fit for our line, at times sure he looked a little bad, but by the end of the day when he had 25 carries for 115 yards and a TD, you can see he had a productive day. He tires out defenses and doesn't fumble, he is underrated, not overrated.
I understand what you are saying but his "productive games" could of been another back's "big games"....I'm not saying Thomas should be more flashy I just feel he could do more than just hit the hole...He needs to fight for yards...He just doesn't create for himself. It is hard to watch this guy play....
hate hate hate! spread the hate. dont worry in about 5 years everyone will hate sanchez and greene as much as they hate jones and washington. its just how it goes, OH WOW A NEW GUY!!!! boing BOING OMG OMG OMG WOWZERS BOING BOING a new guy he is going to save the WORLD!!! hes the greatest best we have ever had. oh ok so what about the veteran who you said the same thing about 5 years ago... oh he is over rated, we dont need him we have a NEW GUY BOING BOING BOING. rinse and repeat. its to the point now where it doesnt even bother me.
If I may decipher, I believe he means that given the same opportunities, a different running back may have surpassed Jones's numbers. For instance, while Jones may have turned a gaping hole into a 10-yard run, a different running back, one that jtrain leaves unnamed, could've scampered for 20. Translate that over a game, and a Jones 110 yard effort might be a "other running back" 150 yard game.
OK I will break it down to you. You have two running backs. One is simple (Thomas Jones) and the other is aggressive (reggie bush in playoffs). Thomas Jones productive game of 115 yards a 1 TD would of been if Reggie Bush was our RB 165 yards and 2 TDs. Reggie being aggressive and agile would hit the hole and create for himself. Thomas Jones will just hit the hole. A Thomas Jones bad game would be a productive game for Reggie Bush if Reggie was on our team.
Is Reggie Bush playing on a 150 yard field in this game? Please explain more, add some more variables.
This whole thread is fantastic. Everything Jtrain says reeks of dogshit (the Reggie Bush comparison...holy shit! that's unintentional comedy gold), and then Firemanedjr swoops in to become the voice of reason.
you just compared 2 HBs with totally different running styles......and then fucked up your comparison on top of that.
Why are you acting like a kid. I have an opinion based on an observation that I've made. If you open your mind maybe you'll understand and add to this discussion
