Wow, all the news is going nutz because Reyes made it to 3rd w/o hurting himself... Then again, can ya blame em?
If we're going to trade Reyes, I don't want Omar being the one making the trade. It will somehow involve Bengie Molina.
If the Mets are blowin' and we're in one of the J months and Reyes is playing well and the Giants want him, then they'll have to give up Bumgarner, Renteria, and a couple prospects or get lost.
i have faith going into this season. remember, this is (almost) the same team that everyone predicted would win it all last year. i cant wait for tomorrows game......
After listening to only a small portion of Manuel's interview with Mike Francesa today, I feel confident in saying that Jerry Manuel couldn't manage a high school baseball team let alone the Mets.
That's actually a very good point....wait until Omar is put out to pasture before making any big trades. The only move we didn't get fleeced in was the Santana trade. He downright stole Santana from the Twins....being as though they still made the playoffs last year w/o him I'm sure they're not complaining. The only other move that turned out OK was the Perez trade as Ollie had an MVP like performance in the NLCS.
If anyone watched the game yesterday did you see Ike Davis. He looks very good and will hopefully pan out and be our future 1st basemen. Reyes Wright and Ike would be an awesome core of homegrown prospects. Hes tall too and looks good defensively except on this one pop up where he had no idea where it was going. Im sure hes not going to play this year except until maybe like september but I bet by next year he will be big league ready at age 23. Also that pitcher Medjia or something Gary was talking seemed like he was the real deal. Throws in the upper 90s, if he can throw it over the plate could be anice future starter. Definetly a big upside.
Jennry Mejia, our top pitching prospect. He has a hard fastball, a real nice cutter, and his change and breaking ball are great too. He's erratic as hell though, and this may be attributed to inconsistencies in his pitching motion. He needs time in the minors to fix this. At best, he can be an ace type starter. At worst, with his fastball and cutter, he could probably turn into a real nice arm in the back of the bullpen. Mejia looks good. I love Ike Davis as well. Quick wrists, great pop, pretty nice defensively, and supposedly has a rocket arm, which could be useful if we play him in RF, but 1B is his main position. I don't want him being rushed though. Honestly he should get some more time in the minors, but I wouldn't be surprised if we gave him a job outta Spring Training.
Mets signed Kiko Calero today for bullpen help for almost nothing. Sneaky good signing, the kind you don't expect from the Mets.
Kiko had a very good year last year (by his standards) it's actually a pretty good depth signing. Hopefully Wright has refound his power and will get back to his 25+ HR numbers. Pretty sad when your leading HR hitter has 12 on the season.....
oh fuck me was is jose reyes scratched again from today's game. mets setting up press conference to explain details. From Lennon's twitter: lenno212 Reyes sitting on clubhouse floor, on phone, while teammates taking BP. No explanation on why not playing today.
http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/...go-tests-after-doctors-spot-thyroid-imbalance thyroid problem wtf?????
This could be serious or nothing! It may also explain why he took a a season to recover from the thigh injury last year when everybody else is back in 6 to 8 weeks. But as a Mets fan I am not suprised that this guy now has something else injury wise! that is just who he is turning out to be!
Thyroid shit is common as anything and as long as it isn't cancer easily treatable. Carl Lewis, the Olympic sprinter had the same thing. and unlike what that ignorant racist fuck Bennigo thinks, it has nothing to do with HGH or steroids.
