Uh, why did you want Molina? Barajas is essentially the same player for cheaper. (Not that I like him.)
Molina has a higher batting average and I havent seen much of Barajas playing but Molina is good defensively.
They're both awful in terms of getting on base, and in offense in general. The improvement from Barajas to Molina isn't the difference between 2nd place and 1st place or anything.
They both suck... The problem is that Omar still thinks that this is a contending team that he can just sign some fill in scrubs and things will work out. It hasn't worked out and it never will work out. The only way the Mets get better is by a complete overhaul from the GM down to the minors. They are stuck with guys like Beltran and Bay so I would be on the record as saying trade Jose Reyes. I don't think he's going to be the same player and in doing so you begin that rebuilding process. This core is not going to win a WS so it's time to begin a new core that hopefully will.
As long as you make the playoffs any team can win the world series. See shitastic cardinals stealing the mets WS hopes in 06. Marlins have won 2 world series both as the wildcard winners.
btw today in the intrsquad game jose reyes batting 3rd hit a 2run stand up triple. wright also drove in 2

Disgusting would probably be more appropriate. It almost doesn't matter to me because I am not watching any games until the Wilpon's sell the team to someone who gives a shit about baseball and winning a WS. Either that or they have to make some serious personnel changes to convince me otherwise (e.g. GM/manager). The only reason I give a shit is because I have been rooting for this team longer than I have been rooting for the Jets (or gave half a shit about football for that matter). Until then baseball is "on strike" -> to me <- because of a CBA disagreement. /rant*sigh*
You people love to bitch. We have one of the best lineups in the NL. Pitching is our problem. THe only teams with a better O then us is Phillie Dodgers and Cards.
we need health and good pitching and the rest will following. june 10th after johan beat the phillies at citi field we where 1 game back of 1st without jose.krod had his 16th save and had a 0.65 era. we where 31-25 we lost the next 2 to the phills and the 3rd day we lost 2 out of 3 to the yanks including the infamous castillo dropped ball.
I just about crashed my (mom's) car today when I was driving and WFAN played Gary Cohen's call on the Castillo drop without warning.
The Mets can't trade Reyes now and expect anything great in return. If they fall out of contention but Reyes is playing well, then maybe they could trade him in late June or in July. I was all for breaking up the core after the 2007 disaster. I wanted either Reyes or Wright to be traded. Most posters were against me on the issue. In retrospect, I don't know what would have been right. I really don't know. If they broke up the core in the winter of 2007-08, the Mets probably would have made bad trades because that's normally what they do. Instead, they kept the core together and the team has become an even bigger joke.
