when they said he is an excellent one-cut and go guy i thought the same thing ... perfect for our line
Halfway through the combine, my running back rankings have been shaken up a little bit: 1. CJ Spiller 2. Ryan Mathews 3. Dexter McCluster 4. Jahvid Best 5. Toby Gerhart
McCluster is killing himself!!! slow 40 time + sloppy drills + small frame = goodbye 2nd round Marshall guy from Marshall looks pretty good in drills...
He slipped on his 40, and he dropped a pass. The guy's still more versatile than almost every back in this draft.
Those "official" times are pretty shitty. Whoever was timing them fucked up big time. CJ Spiller's and Ryan Mathews' times were way off.
Didn't like the read-and-react drill neither... I know the combine is just the combine but as of now he was below par in every drill! Does this mean he's shit? Of course not... but it does raise question marks if you are a scout.
I only saw the first attempt which was a 4.55 with a bad start. McCluster is still one of the better backs at the combine. I still think he'll go mid-to-late second.
What did he do wrong in that drill? Dex made a nice cut and put his hand on the ground before his breakaway. He showed nice acceleration.
Well, I guess now the NFL know that if a team needs someone to run on a track in track shoes and shorts, they shouldn't ask McCluster to do it.
Give me Hardesty... said it since the middle of the season... too bad we don't have a pick in the low 3rd... Didn't like how he looked... sloppy IMO (keep in mind I actually like McCluster as a person and I root for him, but that's my honest opinion). Hardesty and Marshall are looking good in these drills... what do you think about the latter? I have NO IDEA how he perfomed through the season. Gerhart is looking good and Dixon from Penn State is ok even if his 40 sucked...
