That all this was about to happen, and how far we would end up going into the post season. What an incredible season that for me, really started when we drafted Sanchez. I love this video, everything about it makes me smile, from Sanchez's excitement to be going to NY, to the clowns that didn't like the pick. How right on the money is Mayock, "I'll bet whatever they gave up for him will be worth it....."
Revis Christ I love this moment. The minute that happened, I was jumping up and down, hit my head on the low ceiling in the basement, and screaming "that's nothing!!!!!" when the trade was announced. I love being right. This kid is the future.
it's pretty shocking that we got our franchise qb for a second round pick. the collapse at the end of 2008 is going to end up being the best thing that ever happened to this franchise.
This was the luckiest trade EVER. No one will ever go from 17 to 5 for so little like the Jets. Who would have thought Mangini could be so good to the Jets after the collapse. Sanchez and Braylon, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
I seriously would have been happy with 8-8 this year. Being that we had a rookie QB, and a rookie HC! It was a huge surprise, and I think the future is looking bright. I'm super excited for the draft this year. But, I'm kinda pissed they moved the 1st round to Thursday.
Last year I was hoping beyond hope that the Jets would land Sanchez at 17, but it didn't look good. Then on draft day there when we traded up to 6 while he was still there I started jumping for joy!!!!! .... and for so litle of a price, it was fantastic. I was with Rocky on the 8-8 ish season, and very happy how well things came togeather for Rex's defense, the progress of Mark throughout the year, and the emergence of Greene as a force in the playoffs. This team has a bright future.
This time last year I was advocating staying at 17, drafting a WR or a DE, and specifically arguing against taking a QB - Sanchez specifically. I have never been happier to be so wrong.
In hindsight, it was a perfect move by Tanny. Got rid of some dead weight and setup the future. Man he throws the ball great deep and on the seams.
