I agree......but I'd add Eric Decker and Riley Cooper to that list of possibles.

A check down guy should cost a high draft pick.

He's a depth player who's quick enough to get a cheap 4 yards as a safety outlet... you know, like Chansi Stuckey.

Status? I think his status is 'inmate'.

But once he is released in 2011, bank on his signing with whatever team The Chin ends up coaching.

The more that I think about it, the more I like the idea of the Jets drafting an H-Back type player like Pitt's Dorin Dickerson.

He's got experience at receiver, tight end, and fullback, and he's had success at each spot.

You can really line him up anywhere: the slot, at tight end, or in the backfield...and he can give the quarterback a big bodied, check down option in many different situations.

In a ball control offense, an effective H-Back can do damage, especially around the goal line.

Stuckey would have been awesome as the slot.

Ok.. so I bumped this because
    1) I know how to search the forum before starting a new thread
    2) Bucs Coach Morris said that they don't intend on re-signing Bryant...

with all this talk about Aso, i thought we actually talk about a player with a realistic chance of coming to the Jets.. that wouldn't cost us our entire draft..

So do we make a move and get another risky receiver with questionable attitude problem but has plenty of upside or do we just leave it alone and get our WR in the draft..

Call me crazy but i think if Sanchez and Keller can get on the same page next season the talk about needing another reciever is mute.

Agreed - if Keller progresses as he did in the playoffs, then this talk about a slot receiver isn't necessary, altho would expect the Jets to draft someone for the future.

There's also Leon , depending on who's at RB on 3rd downs.

I agree.. I mean there were so many times in the beginning of the season were short routes over the middle were missed b/c keller sat on a route and sanchez lead him as if he was going to keep running, or keller finished out the route and sanchez threw behind him..

but towards the end of the season you could already see better chemistry between the two..

But i still think we a bit more depth.. I mean after cotch and edwards.. we have no one..

I still think another skilled WR is a good addition for the team. If Edwards or Cotch gets hurt, you have Brad Smith and the Clown as the #2 and #3 WRs. That enables the opposing D to double the one healthy legitimate talent you have at the WR position. Adding Bryant also makes the spread formation a feasible part of this teams offense.

    1. DK can line up at split end. (he already has, actually.) So that injury concern gets you practically nowhere - provided Keller progresses well enough.

    2. Rex Ryan was never about spread offense. He was all about smashmouth ground-and-pound football. Spread offense with QBs in dress skirts are for other teams. (like Pats or Colts.) Real men play smashmouth football.

Antonio Bryant is going to do what he always does: go to a team that is desperate for a starter until he wears out his welcome. He is going to command too much to justify being a 3rd WR/insurance policy.

Also, Rex Ryan likely doesn't want his 2nd year QB running the spread formation, and Brian Schottenheimer is not a spread OC.

What about Kevin Walter? He had an injury last year, so he won't be too expensive. Yet, he's a solid producer, and he's a tough player.
