No, not giving Kerry up in that trade. Im talking about trading Kerry away to anyone for a draft pick or a player. For Aso, I suggested the most should be a 1st and a 2nd or 3rd (Or a 1st and a conditional 2nd maybe), no other player.
Ok, so what does all of that have to do with trading for Asomugha? Are you saying that with all of those players leaving, you are willing to give up a 1st and a 2nd for one player after creating two open spots in the starting secondary? Again, you have come up with a really stupid idea. Imagine wasting our players' best talents.................lol
Perhaps the $$$ we'll be saving to accomodate Aso?? For Rhodes, we'll get another pick or a player. Not losing anything there, just freeing up some $$. Ghost is not a starter and really shouldn't even be discussed in anything related to a trade, rather $$. Lito is injury prone and we are not paying him a $10 bonus (regardless of how it gets treated later on). He will most likely get dumped no matter what your point of view is, even if he is a starter. That will leave an open CB spot on the D regardless of Aso talks. Aso will have NOTHING to do with the two open spots. We would give up a 1st and a 2nd for him. Sure thats a steep cost for him, but for his talent, its not a lot at all. His salary is the issue however and that is why I mentioned a few players might not even be on the roster, again, regardless of Aso talks. Jones is another player whom I don't want to see cut but could be a $$ saving cut. Maybe not all of them will be gone, but between Lito, Ghost, Kerry and Jones, I can see two of them leaving, cut or traded.
just don't quite understand the hate. we have the cowboys fan making crazy trades because he is used to the way jerry jones does things. and then someone makes an innocent joke. neither was worth the effort of calling out.
You are assuming a lot here. We don't even know if any team is interested, what they are offering, or what the Jets are looking for. Asomugha has a lot to do with those two roster spots because those are two players we are not getting in favor of a 29 year old starter next season. If the Jets are going to bring him in, great, but it is a move that is going to cost the team if Tannenbaum and Ryan think that Asomugha is going to solve all of the secondary problems. The Jets still need someone to start opposite Leonhard, the defense still only has one pass rusher, all of the starting DL are in their 30s, chances are we are only returning 3/5 cornerbacks from last season. There are too many holes here to be giving up our top two draft picks for one starter. One high draft pick and player on the way out. That is all we can afford to give up for this team.
your scenario sucks. cato was right about that. i said trade, but i was referring to your whole scenario. you can argue it with him some more if you want but it sucks.
Jets n boys got called out for a blatantly stupid idea. JFaulk mostly got it because I just got done reading Jets N Boys' post and was willing to believe people actually thought like that.
Sure does suck, but Im not the one who drafted Ghost, or gave a $10 mil bonus to Lito. And Im certainly not the one who is 50/50 on Jones. Im also not the one who wants out of NY just because Rex benched his lousy ass. Its never a great scenario when you have four players making millions of dollars and you are not sure if any of them will return. I would take Aso for the trade I mentioned. Rest will work out. Maybe we keep every one. Maybe we cut ghost and Lito. Im not creating this scenario. Its been talked about for months now and has a point to it. I prefer to keep Lito as a backup if the Jets can afford him or restructure.
There is no way Al Davis is trading Asomugha to the Jets. Literally no way. He hates the Jets more than any other franchise and he's old and cranky and a bit tetched. Zero chance.
The Jets didn't give Lito a $10 mil bonus, they put a carrot on a stick and gave him a chance to return to Pro Bowl form, or at least play through injury to prove he was worth keeping. He failed at both. Here are the details of the contract, as originally reported by the NY Daily News: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/2009/02/ The Lito trade was basically a 1 year gamble to find a solid compliment to Revis. The gamble didn't prove out. So they will let him walk and test the waters. And possibly give us another slot to sign a mid-level UFA in the uncapped year. If you want to complain about the 5th rounder we gave up, that would be a legitimate gripe, however.
lol, Im not the one complaining about Lito leaving. And I agree, if Lito stays, Tanny would have to work on that $10 mil bonus. I don't think he stays with the current contract. I read on TGG somewhere that we would have to cut Lito to get rid of him. He can't be an UFA this yr. For that reason, we won't be adding any UFA for Lito's loss. If its possible that he becomes an UFA, Im all for it of course.
