I was wondering what you guys thought of these three in the later rounds. I know that Mike Williams has skills! But will he be able to mature. I saw price a few times on TV and loved him….polished rout runner. As for Banks, I don’t know a lot about him and he may be a great special teams addition but could he just be Leon with a receivers #. Walter football.com has Banks rated as the #17 best receiver, Williams as the # 23 and Price as the #30 as I have below. Brandon Banks, Kansas State Height: 5-7. Weight: 155. Projected 40 Time: 4.29. Projected Round (2010): 4-6. 1/19/10: A solid punt returner, but his bread and butter is taking kickoffs to the house. Brandon Banks scored four touchdowns on kickoff returns this year, maintaining a 28.9 average. 10/10/09: One of the top kick-returners in the nation, Brandon Banks has two scores on a 35.5 average. Mike Williams, Syracuse Height: 6-2. Weight: 205. Projected 40 Time: 4.43. Projected Round (2010): 5-6. 11/7/09: Quit on his team. That's a no-no. Many teams will shy away, but the Bengals and Eagles might be interested. 10/10/09: Two years after being debacled by academics, Mike Williams has 41 receptions for 623 yards and five touchdowns in five games. 2/7/09: Mike Williams is back at Syracuse after being accused of cheating last year. Hey Mike, next time, just pick "C" for every answer. A 40 is better than the big, fat zero you got. 7/26/08: Mike Williams has a great 40 for his size. He was also very productive as a sophomore (60 catches, 837 yards, 10 TDs). He'd be a lot higher on this list, but he has been suspended for academic reasons. I guess Williams was too lazy to find someone to do his homework and take his tests for him. Taylor Price, Ohio Height: 6-0. Weight: 198. Projected 40 Time: 4.38. Projected Round (2010): 6-7. 1/29/10: Despite what Mr. Fake Bake says, Taylor Price did not have a good week in Mobile. Details available in the 2010 Senior Bowl section. 1/19/10: A physically gifted but raw receiver, Taylor Price notched 56 catches, 784 yards and five touchdowns in 14 games as a senior. 11/7/09: Taylor Price is turning some heads in his senior season, catching 36 balls for 513 yards and four touchdowns. 10/10/09: A 4.38 at 6-1, 212? Taylor Price might as well begin looking for a house in Oakland
I heard we talked to Joe Webb at the senior bowl - we know how Tanny likes former QBs.... just saying.
Price and Williams shouldn't be considered late rounders. They'll both probably end up getting drafted in the 3rd or 4th round.
would you take a chance on williams? I like him but man is he a dumbass or what? Was/is he just getting by on god given ability, if so that will only last for so long in the NFL if at all. I have a concern with his dedication to the playbook
Mike Williams made a horrible decision when he quit this year. However, I've heard that he been conditioning for months, so he'll be ready for the combine. Someone will take a chance on him. He's a big time sleeper, especially if he gets his head on straight.
A couple of very late Rd/FA Wrs that may surprise: Naaman Roosevelt, Buffalo....a very productive WR with outstanding numbers. Could be a big surprise and sleeper in a late round. Didn't have a good East/West week and might be worth a look in rd 7 or FA. Had a very good 2009 without Willy. Donald Jones, Youngstown St.....another productive receiver that will be at the combine. Seems to have better hands and upside than Roosevelt.
Blair White of Michigan St. is a name to watch. He was a really productive walk-on and may be a nice fit as a slot receiver. I'm surprised his name hasn't been mentioned anywhere on the forum yet and will proceed to take full credit for his unearthing.
Haha Yeah, I know. I read your thread before getting in this one and figured you'd have put his name in your post here. But since not, I just wanted to be a pain and see if you'd notice.
...I don't miss too much. White could be a nice option in Rd 5......I'm not too thrilled using Rd 1 or Rd 2 for a WR.
