... per NFL.com, is there a way we can haul both of them in?

That would help our draft (and franchise) immensely...

    Get busy, Tanny!

I think it's more likely that both of them get slapped with the franchise tag.

But even if they do both become UFA, we don't have UFA's walking that would equal the amount of scratch it would take to sign one of them, let alone both of them.

See the Final 8 Plan thread at the top of the board.

If the Pats try and hit Wilfork with a franchise tag, then off to Miami/Tampa Bay he goes

Why do you say that? Do players have the right to refuse the tag?

No they dont. They just act like children until they get what they want and it works.

No. Both of these guys are almost 100% sure to be tagged or sign new deals with current clubs.

    :eek:hmy:

Pretty much what happens most of the time though, it's going to be a game of hardball for these two representatives

no, but he has said he has no intention of playing under a one year contract when he has made it clear he wants something long term, so the likelihood that he sits out the first 6 or so games he is allowed to do before losing his contract year if they tag him is probably high and they know it, thus they'd be tagging him only to get half a season out of him, maybe not terribly motivated due to fear of risking injury and hurting his ability to get a long term deal the following year, and essentially wasting the roster spot and money on him.

if they tag him, it would be to trade him.

Best case scenario to happen with seymour/wilfork would be the pats losing Wilfork and getting nothing in return.

And worst case scenario would be Seymour ending up a UFA and going right back to NE

Wilfork wants a big Deal from NE or has said he is signing to play in Florida... so thats Jax, TB or Miami, and Seymour will be franchised... we have ZERO shot of signing either of them, not to mention, as it stands right now, we can not sign FA's unless we loose one and can only sign one for the salary lost, because we were a final 4 team, unless the NFL and the NFLPa extend the CBA for this season, which is HIGHLY unlikey.

    Hes a 3-4 nose tackle.

    1. They'll both get a franchise tag if they can't work out a deal

    2. With the restrictions on UFAs it would be impossible
