Per rotoworld: This is a huge injury...if Bebe Thomas was really running in the 4.3s like Pauline is reporting, then he would've flown up draft boards and maybe passed Dez Bryant as the top receiver prospect. He'll be out 4 to 6 weeks.
I heard he was slow. Unless there's some proof that he can run a time like that I hope we don't bite on him. EDIT: Apparently his workout was taped. Damn though, they have to insert a pin in his foot to quicken the healing.
Good luck to him on a speedy recovery.. these guys that are more physical freaks than football players are really unlucky to get hurt before the combine.
4.3??! He was projected to run a 4.6-4.7 He would have definitely been a mid 1st rounder along with Dez Bryant.
He just has questionable quickness and deep speed, because he's a heavier receiver weighing 227. It really sucks that pro scouts won't be able to see him in agility drills and the 40.
This drops him to the 3rd-4th round now probably where he would have jumped up to the 1st round for sure. Watching Thomas play, he reminds me of Brandon Marshall.
Shiiiit. I had Demaryius as my #1 wideout a month or so ago and felt he was a first rounder BEFORE this 4.3 business. If he can actually pull that off, then I wouldn't hesitate to take him in the top 20. I could really care less about the broken foot if the tape shows him doing well in the drills. Plus, we are slightly over 2 months away from the draft, so he'll have a shot to still workout if he stays on track with his recovery.
I don't think he'll fall that far. I think the farthest he'll fall is mid-second. He most definitely won't last until the fourth round.
Wow...one of my favorite college players. This could be good for us! Maybe we can get him with a later pick now! He needs to spend a year learning routes anyway...players can recover from broken bones.
maybe by Al Davis standards, thankfully for Thomas he plays at a position where if he can catch the ball on a frequent basis most teams will give him a shot. But I still have major concerns about his route running and just general football IQ. I'll admit his major strength is blocking which will make some team happy. I dont hate the guy but he just comes across as a raw and unpolished
I actually met him a few times at GT and he really loves this game with a passion. He is definitely willing to learn and improve his route running and I think he has an adequate football IQ; he just didn't need to know much in an option offense.
That's true and I dont know about his heart for the game, and it is probably exceptional. But if he is projected to go in the first round like Mr.E said, most NFL teams expect players to be a little more refined
I definitely think he would have gone late 1st-early 2nd with his projected 4.5 40 time, but if he was running 4.38 he would have skyrocketed to the middle of the 1st round...Kiper had him going at #21 in his latest mock. This development will be interesting to watch; a broken foot isn't going to slow him down once it's healed and he should be fine in 2 months. I'd be surprised if he lasts until the 3rd.
