The WR poll

Discussion in 'New York Jets' started by Mambo9, Feb 17, 2010.

?

What WR would you prefer as a #3 WR next year?

  1. Torry Holt (veteran, released)

    9.7%
  2. Laveranues Coles (veteran, assumption he'll be released)

    12.9%
  3. None of the guys listed here but I want someone (trade or FA)

    9.7%
  4. Lance Moore for a 2nd rd tender (was a UFA so he'll be restricted for a 2nd)

    0.8%
  5. J. Avant for an original rd tender (4th)

    2.4%
  6. L. Moore via a trade

    3.2%
  7. J. Avant via a trade (less than what we'd give for Moore)

    0 vote(s)
    0.0%
  8. Draft in Day 1 (the old day 1)

    17.7%
  9. Draft in Day 2 (the old day 2)

    32.3%
  10. Cool with what we have / someone will shine in TC (Britt, Henry, etc)

    11.3%

Ah... this is not another WR thread.... it's a WR POLL!!!

Let's throw in all the possibilities out there of who our #3 will be next year and see if we can agree on this. My opinion is no since I've heard a ton of different names out there!

PS: This thread is working under the assumption that the veteran WRs listed or the RFA listed will be available at a reasonable price...
For the vets for reasonable I mean their salary will range between vet minimum and 1.5/2 mill.
For the RFAs the assumption is the max we'd have to surrender is a 5th and a conditional next year (which means working out a trade since a 5rd tender doesn't exist unless you got drafted in that round) or it will be specified.

What I really like to happen is for the Jets to trade out of Round 1 into rd 2 and pick a third rd pick.

We can get a good #3 Wr in Rd 3.

There should be a good #2 CB available in early/Mid rd 2

Rd 2a..Devin McCourty or Brandon Ghee
Rd 2b..Eric Norwood or Koa Misi or Corey Wootton
Rd 3...Freddie Barnes or Eric Decker or Jordan Shipley

There's nothing to say we can't pickup a dropped Coles and draft someone on day 2.

    No Plaxico :p

Personally I think if we can trade down in the draft id LOVE to draft someone in the 3rd-4th round.

If we cant trade down I think you gotta grab Plax/Coles/Holt whoever looks the best during their physical and what not.

I'd love to see the Jets go after a guy like Gilyard or Shipley in the draft.

Braylon Cotch leon and keller are good enough for me. We are a ground and pound team and wr shouldnt be that much of a concern. Besides Clowney is going to have a break out year of 70 catches for 1100 yards and 14 td's

Exactly why I don't want to give up anything for a WR. It would be nice to upgrade with one of the old vet FA's though.

Would've gone with Coles but he seemed pretty worthless this season as the Bungles no. 2 (injured most of the season I think). Went with a conditional trade for Moore.

Coles woudn't be bad as long as he can keep his mought shut, which I highly doubt. Holt wouldn't be bad at all. Differences between these two WRs are about 18 months and a ton of talent.

I would try to grab a WR on the (old) second day in draft. Edwards should get better with a Jets off season under his belt. First day picks should be from DB, LB, DL and OL IMO.

Laveranues Coles? Come on guys, we can do better than that. Good grief. Can we raise the bar just a little?

Forget Coles. Draft a WR, and some offense and defense lineman(oh yea a CB too)

Terrell Owens. He is better than anybody in the draft got 900 yds on that horrible team. The most important thing is Rex can control him for a year and im sure he will come cheap. We have a chance to win it is worth the risk.

I don't want that clown anywhere near our young QB. We can't sign him without losing a FA at equal value anyway.
