Chad Jones is one of my favorite players in this draft. Guys likes Jones and Cam Thomas are definite possibilities with our pick at the end of the second round.
I really like Cam Thomas, he's a player to watch. I have Jones, Allen and Burnett bunched close together. Probably will be a team preference on where they're selected. I think Chad Jones could have helped his stock, maybe Rd 1 in 2011, by staying another year.
Big Cam's a lot more athletic than people think. I think Thomas is more versatile than Cody and Williams. He's got a lot of athletic ability for a player of his size, which leads me to believe he can line up, and be damn good at 3-4 end.
Clausen over McClain? If you weigh in positional value as well then I'm on board but if you only count talent and lersonality I'd switch them...
Jimmy Clausen was called the Lebron James of football by one of the greatest quarterback coaches ever. Steve Clarkson knows his shit. The kid's got a ridiculous amount of talent. I think he's one of the better quarterback prospects to enter the draft since Peyton Manning.
Guys don't get me wrong... I think Clausen is a hell of a prospect... It's just I wouldn't be so fast as to wether he is a better prospect than McClain AT THEIR RESPECTIVE POSITION. After that QB is immensly more important than ILB so Clausen is a better prospect in general... but in their respective roles I think McCLain has an edge over Clausen. BTW I read Clausen had suregry on his toe and it's unclear wether he'll be able to practice before the draft. And MANY (not 1 or 2) analysts on NFL.com are saying he is behind Bradford and some question if come draft day he'll be behind McCoy too... what they are questioning the most is his character... Personally I think he is kind of like Philip Rivers... great potential, shitty person.
This is the vid discussing Clausen: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-hq-videos/09000d5d8166cd9d/Clausen-s-combine-status
Jimmy Clausen has more upside than anyone in this draft. He's got the potential to be a franchise signal caller...and that's the most valuable position in this league. He's further along as a passer than maybe any quarterback I've ever seen come into this draft. He mastered the pro-style offense under Weis at Notre Dame, and he's only going to get better in it. Philip Rivers likes to talk trash, but that doesn't make him a shitty person. He's a fiery guy, a competitor. His cockiness is just part of the way he plays. Clausen's been in the limelight since he's sophomore year of high school. People are claiming he was going to be the best quarterback of all time - of course his head's going to be a little big. In order to play the position, you have to be confident. Jimmy Clausen's a better quarterback prospect than Rolando McClain is a linebacker prospect. There's a reason why Clausen is still being considered the #1 overall pick, and McClain may not even go in the top ten. Both are great players, but Clausen is the better overall prospect. If Colt McCoy gets drafted ahead of Jimmy Clausen, I will laugh hysterically at the team that makes that mistake.
What about Bradford (vs Clausen)? I think McCoy over Clausen is absurd but I don't know who NFL teams might prefer between a healthy Bradford and a healty Clausen... I think both have the potential to be great... Clausen is the better player on the field, Bradford the better one off the field... in the long run it'll be interesting to see who'll prevale. PS as for Rivers... I LOVE him as a QB... but he really gets on my nerves more than any other QB in this league... that's what I meant for shitty person... not a bad guy (like a pacman jones for instance) but just sooo cocky!
I think were getting too worked up about these ratings. It's my Top 50, I don't expect everyone to agree with me. I don't base the rankings on where they are going to be drafted. Jimmy C is my top-rated QB and deserves to be ranked just after Suh, McCoy, Berry.... I'm a huge Rolando McClain fan, probably one of his biggest supporters on this site. I drafted him at #5 for KC in our 3 Rd Mock. Rating Jimmy C at #5 & McClain at #6 isn't worth debating, they're the top players at their respective positions.
I think Sam Bradford will take much longer to develop. That offense they run at OU isn't exactly NFL friendly. He's a big, athletic kid though...and he can sling it. I just like Clausen more as a pro-passer. Supposedly Mike Shanahan really wants Bradford in Washington, so that's probably where he'll go. I will be a little uneasy if Buffalo lands Clausen...I'm really hoping someone takes him before the Bills' pick. Even if Bradford ends up going higher than him, I'll still put my money on Clausen.
I think you're underrating Demaryius Thomas by putting him as the 6th best receiver. I've seen this kid live and he's an absolute animal. He's got great game speed and is the perfect size. He actually reminds me of Braylon. IMO, he has all the tools to be a great #1 receiver in this league and then some (like his blocking, which has improved over his tenure in a run-oriented offense). I may be a bit biased because the game I went to last year was against Duke and he had all of GT's receptions (9 for 230 yds) and was being double-covered for most of the game. Oh, and this was with a freshman QB throwing the ball (he finished 9-14). I just love the way this guy plays the game and he is a great competitor. Watch some highlights on this kid and you'll know what I'm talking about.
Go away!! For the second time, don't tell me what to do. You have no clue the amount of time I put into studying players.
Jesus, stop taking shit so personally. I wasn't assuming you didn't study up for your list, was just suggesting you take another look. And that comment was not just directed at you. What is your reasoning for having Thomas 6th? Am I allowed to ask that or am I just to assume you know all?
