I don't who you are or what rock you crawled from under, you're not a regular in this forum. Don't tell who to watch and how I should feel about a certain player. I don't spew shit out unless I've studied the player. I like Shipley, I just don't have the overall love for him as yourself and don't see a Welker-type player in his future. You are entitled to have your opinion, just don't forcefeed me shit that I don't know what I'm talking about.....I have my opinion. I.ve seen plenty of Shipley and comparing him to Welker is off the mark. If you want to wait 3 or 4 years and Shipley has half of Welker's career, he would be worth a 3rd or 4th rd selection. I'm not saying your comments about Shipley have anything to do with the race card. If you have been around this draft site, as long as I have, you would see all the crap about Woodhead love and the "great white hope" crap.
When I see Shipley I see Welker. Both have a lot of similarities. I would trade back in the 2nd round and get him
Well, you were hinting that I was basing the similarities between the two solely on the color of their skin. That, imo, is very ignorant. Sorry I don't have as high a number of posts as you do but I do have thousands on other forums. I've been to every Jets home game from 1995-2007 (now I'm in college but I still go to 4 home games a year and went to every playoff game since 1995). I played HS football but gave it up to try and do something in the business of sports (and I wasn't good enough to play college lol). I watch a lot of football; college (SEC + Big 12 mostly) and most NFL games every week. All I said was that I suggest you take another look at how Shipley plays the game, because the similarities between him and Welker, in terms of football attributes, are definitely there. Sorry for not being a "regular", but believe me, I'm as die hard a Jets fan as they come and I'm pretty sure I know a thing or two about football. I was planning on being more active here as my other forums have really died down since the playoffs.
Exactly. With needs at CB, OT to replace Woody at some point in the future, OLB/DE edge pass rusher, and another WR, and this being a deep draft, I am just hoping the Jets take the best available player and not necessarily target anyone and trade up. I've seen a few mock drafts with Gilyard still available late in the second round, he would be a much better option than Shipley.
You realize that no one is going to read this, right? If I tried to, my head would explode. Your credibility got e-raped when you said Freddie Barnes wasn't a pro prospect, and that Kyle Wilson is too short to be a #2 corner. "...Seyi Ajirotutu never put it all together" You tried to spew bullshit about Fresno State to me...which is borderline retarded.
Well besides the fact that he's white and short. He's quick, shifty, literary sucks the ball right into his hands (see the video last page), and gets a lot of YAC. Not saying he'll have a career like Welker has but the similarities are surely there.
OK so once Barnes and Tutu become legit Pros, please tell me. Till then, you're just speculating, as I am with Shipley. However, I'm not attacking a poster's rep so instead of me suggesting you watch some film, I'll just suggest that you grow up. I never said the main reason for Wilson not succeeding as a #2 corner was his height. I'm saying that the level of competition he has faced is questionable, at best and him having a few good days during the Senior Bowl shouldn't spring him up to the #2 corner in the draft. Let him face a QB and WR duo that are actually decent and on the same page.
he's actually not that short (6'0"). another thing that people aren't looking at from a positive perspective is his time in the program. he's got an extra 2 years experience and could be a reason he contributes right away.
Hmmm...let's see: Jordan Shipley is definitely white. So is Welker... Jordan Shipley is 6 feet tall. I wouldn't exactly call him short. Welker's short. Apparently Shipley has the force...and it allows him to "literary" suck the ball into his hands, probably the same way that Wes Welker "literary" sucks Tom Brady's dick. They both get a lot of yard after the catch. So, basically after looking at Jordan Shipley through your eyes: He's a not really short, white receiver that can catch the football and run after he catches it?
Actually, we are looking at that...and it's not good. He was granted an extra year, because he was seriously injured as a freshman. The guy's had multiple surgeries throughout his career at Texas. He'll turn 26 during his rookie year, that's also a huge negative.
The guy becomes value after the mid 3rd round... he starts becoming a steal at the top of the 4th... If he somehow passes by day 1 & 2 (the first 3rds) I think it's a must that we try to make a move. If he's available in the second half of the 3rd I'll think about it... otherwise no way!
I'll suggest that you, once again, have no idea what you're talking about. Dude, Freddie Barnes literally destroyed every team he faced except for Boise State. Guess who was covering him that game? Kyle Wilson. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that Tyler Sheehan and Freddie Barnes were on the same page in 2009...155 receptions for 1,770 yards and 19 TDs (in one record fuckin' breaking season) didn't happen by accident. You're going to tell me to watch some film on a kid that I've seen play in person multiple times? Seyi Ajirotutu is a big time sleeper. Marty Schottenheimer, who knows a thing about this game, said that Aji was the best receiver at the Shrine Game. Kyle Wilson, who I've also had the pleasure of seeing play in person, is the best corner on the west coast. Wilson was a four year starter on the best mid-major team of all time. He's been consistently great since he's been at Boise State - they're going to miss him dearly next season. He's also got added value as a return man - he's one of the best in the country at that too.
