...and all of this after he was cut by a horrible Tampa Bay team.

He played 4 games with tampa where 2 of his 6 fieldgoals were blocked.

I think im going to trust the 91 fieldgoal attempts he got with the jets (where he averaged like 83% of them) , over the 6 fieldgoal attempts he had with Tampa as a testament to his skill.

As I recall quite a few teams let feely go after rather short stays as well.

Not really sure what were aruging about though since both Feely and Nugent are pretty good kickers with similar skill.

How bout finding a punter and a punt returner and leaving our kicking situation alone. Face it, this year, we are not big players in FA, the front office is gonna have to find some cheap FA's for depth purposes and maybe trade Rhodes for picks and have a good draft without giving up picks. We can not afford to move up and give up picks, enough of that.

how many of those 17 FA kickers have kicked in the conditions that feely has to deal with? when you play ground and pound you need a reliable kicker ... feely is that

Jeez, I was hoping that this being the offseason was just a nightmare the day before the Jets take the field for the Super Bowl in Miami, but no such luck, since I just pinched myself while reading this thread.

I don't understand why you would choose Feely, of all players, to be the one in a scenario to let walk and replace with a worse option like Nugent.

It ain't broke, man. Plus, Westhoff loves the guy. No way this happens, unless the guy gets a serious injury and can't kick like he has been.

The fact that you got his first name wrong adds even more to his defeat...

ok, we've all heard the phrase 'last piece to the puzzle' to get a suber bowl team.

teams that are rebuilding focus on offense/defense so they can be competitive, and be close in the 4th qtr. once a team get this close, then they can focus on a upper tier place kicker to bring the bacon home.

now, the jets have arrived. we have the #1 offense and #1 defense and a great special teams.

we really dont have any gapping holes. we sure do have a few places we could be better at (#2 CB, etc), but no gapping holes that some FA could fill.

1- lock up our bread and butter players
2- trade down in the draft for extra picks to restock the cupboards
3- get ready to party in 2010

I thought about this, too, but Feely is too reliable, you bring him back. So many kickers have had so much trouble, and it's not like letting Feely go is going to bring in Julius Peppers.

I just don't get the Nugent hate. I understand he was a 2nd round pick and that's pretty stupid, but he was not a bad kicker by any stretch of the imagination.

Feely loves playing here as well. I'm sure he wll have his agent working with the Jets on a new deal.

I find no reason to change kickers at this point in time. Let's move onto the punter position agreed?

Not only is Touchy Feeley a great kicker, but I would imagine that hes also a strong locker room presence. From his tweets you can tell hes a fun person and good to be around.
Kind of stuff you want on the sideline, and what you want to see in your kicker.
I'd be really pissed off if we let Feeley go.

Feely won't make much more than a mil. Do expect us to sign a superstar with that money? We can find MUCH better talent than $1 mil in players that were cut.

Stupidest idea I've ever heard really. KC might get a better deal than $1mil and that still won't get us a starting caliber player on either side of the ball. Can we cut you from the board?

We let Nugent go in favor of Feely. Now that Feely had a pretty good yr while Nugent was on the streets, you want to let Feely go in Nugents favor? Hell, even the Cowboys didn't consider Nugent.

Not only is Feely a kicker but he's a football player. the guy just might be our best tackler on special teams! lol.
    KEEP FEELY!
