Assuming the jets traded down (or someone) and had a pick or two to spare, how far down in the draft would this guy have to fall for him to be worth picking up ? I mean this guy definitely has skills, and he could fall a bit. And being that were a team heavily dependent on the rush with a risky backfield at best, id have a hard time saying no if hes on the board in the late 4th/5th rounds. Just curious what other people would think of this guy, and where hed have to be for you to want him
even though he totally has some character flaws the kid has a bunch of talent and has the skill to be a star in this league. so 4th 5th round i cant see how you can pass him up. hopefully he can work out how to be a better person when he gets to this level. on the other side though he does remind me a little like pacman jones with all that talent but just a person who cant learn and be mature
cbs and nflscouts both have him projected to go in the 5th round. (as the 12th best HB) And its just kinda like wow, I mean we got greene for a 3rd 4th and 7th round pick. If we could get another hb of similar or even possibly better talent for a late 4th/5th its kinda just like wow. Not to mention I think Rex Ryan might like him a little better since he punched an opposing player in the face. Would be nice to have someone like that around next time some dbag colt hits Sanchez late in the back.
Blount is going to ahve to really WOW the Gm's and coaches in his interviews to get above the 5th round. He will be a talented but troubled late round pick IMO.
^ I don't know. I think he can get into the mid-late 3rd at the highest. If he measurables are good, and he convinces the FOs he isn't what we saw on ESPN, then he can go 3rd round. His senior bowl performance helped a lot.
Blount will drafted no later than rd 3. Before the incident, Blount was considered a boderline 1st Rd pick. A great Senior Bowl week and the incident getting further in the rearview mirror, will help his stock. IMO, Rd 3 come April.!!
I completely agree. Blount's the best power runner in this draft, and that's a very valuable position in this league...especially around the goal line. He should fit into a RBBC extremely well. Interviews will be huge for this kid. He's going to have to prove that he's matured since the punch.
For Blount to make it any later than the 3rd, a lot of GMs are going to have to make a lot of mistakes.
I stated I see blount as a 5th or later, most everyone disagrees with me which is all fine because its speculation anyway. That said were do you think he ends up in the 3rd or higher for all the guys so high on him? You need a team with a need at RB, not a ton of other holes to fill (RB is not a highly valued position), and perhaps a GM or coach who has shown a tendancy to draft guys that have a * next to them for off feild incidents. Cincy dose not mind risky guys, but has a loaded backfield ATM. The Seahawks need some type of runner in this draft so they are a possibility. New england could use a brusier and has several high picks, IMO they are a real possibility and not one I like. Seriously, name some teams for me and why they are going to spend a first day pick on a running back with his type of question marks? Factor in that he has almost no game film from this season and waht he has is not exactly world beating material.
Washington, Philly, San Diego, New England, Houston, Tampa Bay, Chicago Not saying these teams would draft him, but they are all viable options. Plus, whenever a team can get a 1st round talent in round 3, they may not be drafting for need.
Well with the people who think hes getting picked early, im assuming you disagree that hes the 12th ranked hb in the draft ? Curious where you would rank Blounte on that list. Because I find it kind of hard to imagine 12 HBs getting picked before the 4th/5th rounds. 06 1 C.J. Spiller 20 2 Jonathan Dwyer 30 3 Jahvid Best 43 4 Ryan Mathews 58 5 Anthony Dixon 73 6 Toby Gerhart 82 7 Joe McKnight 90 8 Montario Hardesty 113 9 Ben Tate 131 10 Joique Bell 149 11 Charles Scott 164 12 LeGarrette Blount
Washington ahs 12 mill tied up in Portis and Betts. I doubt the go RB in the frist 3 rounds. Philly has an Aging Westbrooke and a very young and highly drafted McCoy on thier roster. Unless Westbroke calls it quits I don't see them in the market for an early back. They have spent a ton of picks on offense lately and need to adress thier lines and Defense. San Diego. They are a good landing place. LT may be gone and Sproles is not an every down back. That said they may fill thier need a lot eariler than Blount will be drafted. NE, as I stated is one of the more likely places. I could see it happening. Despite the holes they need to fill they have agood number of high end picks. Houston... Houston needs a lot. Receiver opposite Johnson where Walter dissapointed greatly this year. Defensive help. O-line help. They have way too may holes to give up on thier young backs now IMO. Tampa has Ward as a high priced FA signing and Willams as thier feature back, I don't see them picking one high. Not to mention Graham is still there at a good price. Chicago has Forte as thier main back and a ton of holes they need to fill. Cutler needs weapons to throw to and thier defense needs help on every lvl. I don't see them spending a pick on a back in the first 3 rounds.
And adding on to what ^ he said Alot of people are projecting LT to go to Houston or Philly. I could easily easily see LT replacing Westbrook as an eagle next year.
Here are my top ten running backs: 1. CJ Spiller 2. Ryan Mathews 3. Jonathan Dwyer 4. LaGarrette Blount 5. Ben Tate 6. Anthony Dixon 7. Toby Gerhart 8. Jahvid Best 9. Charles Scott 10. Joe McKnight
Just curious, if we lose Jones due to contract squabbles, do you think wed draft a HB with our 5th rounder ? Or just use either Chauncy/grab someone who got cut ?
Last April when we drafted Greene, I thought Jones was a goner. I truly believe TJ will be back and the Jets will rework the contract to make it equitable for both parties. I like Thomas Jones, he is a tough SOB. Jones isn't flashy, doesn't overwhelm you and doesn't hit the hole with authority. Jones is a plodder, just keeps coming at you and eventually breaks a big run. Jones is one the the NFL's most conditioned players and gets better as the game progresses. Jones has a lot of fuel in the tank when everyone else around him is tiring. I expect TJ to be back for at least one more year. The Jets can look for another RB in 2011. A newly drafted RB, in 2011, can adjust very quickly to a NFL offense, just like Greene this season.
That's sad, the top RB in this draft class is simply a complimentary player. Good thing we've got 3 studs.
Well, he would need to be close to your top 4 to go in the first 3 rounds. Only six backs were drafted last year in the top three and three of those were in the first. Running back being a position of low value hurts even the most talented of backs. I think the suppension, combined with his mediocre play in the first two games, is going to hurt Blount a lot this draft.
