While I kind of like Feely, if the jets were to let him go theyd be able to sign a reasonably more expensive UFA (Feely is our most expensive UFA)

Im kind of curious as to how viable people think it would be of letting Feely go so that we could pick up a decent UFA,then replacing Feely with someone like Carney (who recently got cut by the Saints so we could pick him up with no strings attached)

Im not really sure what other kickers would be available , but something like this could give us leeway to grab that extra wr or hb so we can focus our draft picks elsewhere.

I doubt itd be worth it if Carney was our new kicker, but maybe there would be better options available

You can't underestimate the value of a reliable kicker. Rex loves him, it's not gonna happen.

It would be THE MOST STUPIDEST IDEA EVER!!!

We finally have a good K who is actually a football player since he knows how to tackle... no way I want to get rid of him.

Also because Sanchez is still young we'll have to rely on FGs to win games...

Plus there won't be many FAs available this year (UFA from 4 to 6 years + teams have 2 transition tags + whoever hits FA and actually has talent will be over-paid because of no cap).

Please make a list of all the possible WRs we could get through UFA... the answer is NONE.

feely has been money the last two years. if this team sees themselves as a playoff team, which they should, feely must stay. we have witnessed how important a good kicker is during the playoffs from both sides of the coin.

I like Jay Feely hes not the best Kick off kicker but he atleast will make tackles and gets down the field in a hurry. More importantly hes a very reliable kicker and he doesnt seem to get down on himself when he misses which can cause a kicker to just lose it for the rest of the game. See chargers game.

True the UFA list is most limited.

But there is an absolute laundry list of other kickers who are free agents.

I know Mike Nugent was cut by the Cardinals. He was a good kicker for us and is young too.

Add to that how he handled punting on a moments notice too. He has been a huge asset on ST's play....no way I want to lose him. There are some decent kickers out there, but think of the big picture...... Kick offs, FG's, XP's, tackles, and emer. punts? What kind of FA could we land that would offset that kinda loss to ST's?

Feely is a linebacker traped in a kickers body. Rex loves him for it. No way it happens.

As much as I hate kickers I gotta give props to Feely. He made most his kicks, a couple tackles, and that bengals game he really stepped up.

I would hate to lose him.

Every time, EVERY time, Nugent was set-up to kick, I held my breath. He was not reliable.

I agree get rid of Feely and bring back Nugent. He's young he's played with us before and those are just two of the excellent reasons why. I also think with Mangolds trade value going up after this year we should maybe look at getting younger there too. Maybe we should look into a whole rebuild. We could shake up the coaching staff and bring in a new Head Coach.

No way you look to cut salary somewhere else. Feely is one of the best kickers we have ever had. Two words for you Nick Kaeding.

    Same here. :)

Keep Feely. He has heart, he is loyal and he is tough. Pay the man.

Lest we forget, the Jets run to the AFC title game certainly would've ended earlier if not for Graham and Kaeding melting down. Let's not drop a good kicker to pursue a non-impact free agent just so we have something to talk about this offseason.

Who the Hell are we getting for $1million?

You say FGF put up a fail thread and then you post this one? Great job, genius.
