We should trade down with the Browns for their second round and their 3rd (or our original 3rd we traded last year) So #28 turns into #'s 38 and 71 (or 92) With #38 we take Kyle Wilson CB out of Boise State. 5-10, 190, with 4.4 speed. With #61 we take Jared Veldheer OT out of Hillsdale. 6-8, 320, great strength and was great student. We can move him down to G or leave him at T, Woody and Faneca are getting old. With #71 we take Alex Carrington DE out of Arkansas State. 6-5, 285, great combo between strength and quickness we need more pressure from our line. (With #92 Greg Hardy DE out of Mississippi. 6-4, 288, would like to have Carrington if still on board) With #204 we take Linval Joseph DT out of East Carolina. 6-6, 322, great young (21) guy who can be a great addition to our rotation. With #243 we take Emmanuel Sanders out of Southern Methodist. 5-11, 180, 4.47 (a standout from the east vs. west game) will be a great slot receiver plus why not try with such a late pick
And there is no way Tyson Jackson goes in the top 3. Draft stock fluctuates A LOT in the months leading up to the draft, anything can happen. That said, projecting trades is pretty much impossible. To say we should trade with the Browns is nice and all but for them to trade up a player they REALLY want would have had to fall.
Speed at the combine is an isolated statistic, and height and weight are arbitrary. We need guys with great football intelligence and healthy bodies/joints. I'm no expert--- just offering my opinion like the rest of us--- but I think our greatest needs are as follows: 1-- a stud pass rusher (Faneca and Mangold et al. will be stellar, if only for 1 or 2 more seasons, so let's focus on our defensive line.) 2-- a solid slot receiver 3-- a FB who can block AND run Let's go, Jets!
