Ehh, I think Jimmy Clausen is the most NFL ready quarterback to enter the draft since Peyton Manning. I've been high on Jimmy Clausen since I heard Steve Clarkson call him the Lebron James of football...the guy knows his quarterbacks. I thought that was a pretty arrogant remark by the QB guru, so I watched this kid closely for three years. He's an amazing talent at the position. The kid's got incredible toughness, the confidence to survive on a shit football team for a while, and amazing intangibles. I think it'd be a dumb move to pass on this kid if your franchise needs a quarterback.
not a knock on you just a general observation: The QBs coming out in this class were supposed to be the best in a long, long time. That was the thought process 400 days ago. now most people say it sucks. I find that hilarious.
Bradford and Clausen are going to prove that line of logic very, very wrong in the NFL. ...and I still like Robinson as a late round sleeper.
Clausen and Bradford don't deserve to be picked in the first!? Really!? Care to elaborate please... I think Clausen and Bradford talent, production and intangibles-wise are up there with Ryan, Flacco, Stafford and Sanchez. It's just that college football is very different than NFL football so when the draft process starts everyone notices the mistakes players (especially QBs) make in college and think "if he does that in the NFL he's screwed". But players (especially good ones) learn from their mistakes and get better once in the NFL.

I liked Clausen better as a junior than as a senior. I watched him closely this year and don't like a couple of things I saw. Negatives are that he seems injury prone(in his defense he is a gamer and plays hurt), missed a lot of open recievers downfield and came up small in big games. I don't like his deep arm. Bradford looked great before he got hurt, but that injury is a killer in the NFL. Its the Pennnington injury. It's a problem waiting to happen, especially on your throwing arm. He's going to have to sit for a while and it wouldn't be a good idea to start him as a rookie, considering the hits all rookie QB's take. The QB class also got weaker when Locker decided to stay in school. Colt McCoy was considered the 4th best of this group last year. Now even he has a shoulder injury and might not be ready to throw at the combine. Still might be the first QB taken.
You mean you liked Jimmy Clausen better as a sophomore, than as a junior. I don't see how, though... As a sophomore, Clausen was still trying to do too much and he forced a lot of throws - causing 17 INTs...with 25 TDs. As an injury riddled junior, Clausen put everything together. He threw 28 TDs to just 4 INTs...he completed more passes, with less attempts, threw for about 600 more yards, and his completion percentage rose from 60.9 to 68.0.
I stand corrected, somehow forgot he is a junior. As far as the stats go, for me, they don't tell the whole story. I liked this kid as much as you last year and made sure to watch every game.The short passes(Patriot style) helps the completion percentage quite a bit. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I found his play to be a diappointment. I saw a guy hanging on to the ball too long looking to make the perfect play, a guy that puts too much air under the ball on deep outs and a guy that could have put the team on his back in close games and came short time after time.His team consisitently lost to less talented teams. I admit, I'm being a tough grader here. I wanted to be right about what I thought about him last year, but he just doesn't have all the tools I thought he had.
1A and 1B .... the last time I heard that about two players at the Same position one of them was Ryan Leaf.........
The draft is always a gamble. Ryan Leaf had all the talent in the world, and his attitude was the biggest reason he failed as a professional football player. Personally, I'd take Suh over McCoy. The kid's got star power...as a defensive lineman.
