Koa Misi's biggest knocks are low sack totals, and playing against weaker competition. At the Senior Bowl, Misi obviously proved that he can be extremely effective against Big Six players.
Nobody's saying that, man. It's just wrong to label this kid as a workout warrior, when there haven't even been any workouts yet. Up until this point, Misi has performed well on the football field, not at workouts. That's just a bullshit knock that Scott Wright pulled out of his ass. Good for you. I'd like to recommend Corey Chavous' website (Draftnasty.com) over Wright's. By the way, Wright makes a living off of people clicking the ads on his website, not off of player evaluations.
Draftnasty is one of my favorites. But if we are going to draft a LB based on athletic ability more than actual stats, then I would much rather gamble on someone like Sapp in the first.
I've never said....I know it all. What I can't tolerate is when someone makes a false statement about a player. A work warrior is a player that inflates his #s....usually at the combine or school workouts to better their draft status. Workout warriors work on their mesurables on an individual basis. Misi is a hard working player than shined against excellent competition in the Senior Bowl, that isn't a workout warrior. Misi' stock is rising for playing well a couple of weeks ago and recognizing his potential.
Ricky Sapp has a lot of underlying problems, mainly horrible knee issues. Koa Misi isn't the most athletic guy out there - he's a workhorse. The guy doesn't take plays off...much like Brandon Graham, Misi is a football player. When I'm looking at players, I'm not looking at stats. I'm looking at how they play the position, and how their teammates around them benefit from their play. Misi goes all out. He may not have a ton of sacks, but he made a lot of plays in the backfield and racked up a lot of tackles. I think he'd be a versatile weapon on our defense - he's a guy that can play with outside and inside.
You're acting like a workout warrior doesn't like football and only cares if he has time to get another set of bench in. We have different versions of a WW. Yours is a player who sucks all season long, and shoots up draft boards because he looked jacked at the weigh in. I think it's when a player raises his stock based on his athletic ability alone. 5 sacks isn't enough for me to give this kid a 2nd rounder, a spot which will (hopefully) be selecting a defensive or offensive starter.
Stats and other peoples analysis are really all I have, to go by. I don't get a chance to see much film, especially Utah games. So I'll take your guys' word on Misi.
No, I'm not. I honestly want to know why you think Koa Misi is a workout warrior? Koa Misi didn't suck all season long...I really don't know where you're getting this information - if he did, he wouldn't receive an invite to the Senior Bowl or the combine. Once again, Misi isn't that athletic. He is a very good football player, and the scouts and coaches at the Senior Bowl took notice.
Misi was a three year starter for one of the best mid-major programs in the country. A lot like Eric Norwood, Misi played almost every position on the front seven. I like the fact that he's got an awesome motor and he's versatile.
^ I never said that or "acted" like that. I said....."Misi loves football". A WW can love football, they're not mutually exclusive.
yea but the point of his pick is that theres far less risk in choosing a low stat player in the bottom of the second, than in the bottom of the first
I don't know about this guy. He appears to have his legs on the wrong sides. Seriously, thanks for this effort - I love a little mock draft action in the offseason!
Yeah, that's true. Still though its not like its safe to gamble on a 2nd. That's where you get starters.
No, not true...you misunderstood. I compared Gholston (the Anti-Gholston) to a WW...who doesn't love football. I never said all WW's don't love football. Re-read my post.
I love the Marcus Easley pick, I watch all the UConn games so I know that Jet fans would be happy with him. He has great hands and is an overachiever, a perfect 7th rd pick and a Rex Ryan guy. He went from a walk-on to the main WR on a rising football program in Connecticut.
