I have told this story many times, but it's worth retelling. I was in the stands the day the Jets were the spoilers for the Giants' chance to get into the playoffs. All they had to do was beat our Jets, and our season was basically over and we weren't going anywhere anyway. I can't remember if it was a Jets home game or a Giants home game... may have been Giants and I got tickets from thsi guy I know, which I sometimes did... but anyway, I was there in my green and white. So I'm sitting next to an older couple all dressed up in their blue and red. He's got blue slacks on and a fancy red sweater... penny loafers with red and blue socks on... and she's got a matching attire....all Giants, all duded up. So she's sitting there next to me the entire game with here smug little puss on and her husband is basically ignoring me, and every time the Giants would score, they would clap and kind of look down their nose at me from the corner of their eye, like "See? THis is what a good team looks like." So the Jets go on the win the game and I'm standing up and clapping and high-fiving any Jets fans I can find... and now the lady turns to me and she's obviously pissed by now becasue she's got the sour scowl on her face. So she says to me, "That wasn't very nice!" And I'm like,"Escuse me? What are you talking about?" And she says to me, "Your Jets had nothing to lose. You weren't going to the playoiffs anyway. That wasn't very nice! The least they could have done was let us win so we could go to the playoffs! Your team isn't going anyway." And she was serious. So I just turned to her (and loud enough for her husband to hear too) and said, "Lady, you've got to be fucking kidding me!"
I was thinking the same thing. Monsters of Rock in 1988 with Metallica, Scorpions and Van Halen; Skid Row in 1989 with Bon Jovi--Sam Kinison and Billy Squier also performed that day. Those stand out as the best ones. Most of the other shows I saw were at the arena, which may also bite the dust one of these days.
I don't know if it will be that bad but it wasn't a super windy day the day I was there but the winds were whipping inside the Stadium.
