Would it cost us anything to get Holt?

We are talking about signing him after he will be released, so no, nothing but money.

Look at how many QB couldn't make it before he got picked.

If he's going to play for cheap and be happy being the 3rd or 4th option in the passing game, I'm fine with it.

LOL...you cannot be serious. There is NO comparrison between the two. Holt is a first ballot Hall of Famer. He's a huge upgrade over Coles.

FWIW - I am all for obtaining Holt as a FA. Question is, does he want to come here?

just to add to the thread...

kurt warner announced his retirement from AZ.

so....instead of bringing in chad to back up sanchize/ainge, how about bringing in kurt warner AND signing terry holt as our slot/3rd guy?

then, when shotty skates, hire mike martz to run the big-O.

ok...scratch the martz nightmare, but what about kurt/holt?

I'd like to see the Jets give Whitehead a chance at the slot. He is very quick and has good hands. Personally i think the Jets go for either DE or CB with 1st pick.

Coles wasn't that type of locker room presence, Holt is more of the role model/teacher

holt in the slot for a year would be nice. the more flexibility we have in the draft the more cool shit tanny can do to get the guys the team is high on.

This. Although, I think Holt is a good addition in this scenario..... unlike last season when the JETS were looking for #1/#2 guy, Holt could be seen as too old / slow (lost a step) but as a #3 guy, he still runs good routes, has good hands, and is a good veteran presence on the team, and I'm sure he'd want to play for a contender.

I can't remember, did he get released or did his contract expire? (ufa)

    He's getting released.

My question is: won't a team like the Ravens jump on him and won't he prefer to be in that kind of situation #2 guy than a #3 here?

My guess is our WR coach will have a lot of say in this (he was HOlt's coach in St. Louis)...

i'm shocked that someone is still proposing this idea of getting holt, and i'm even more surprised of how many people agree with this!

he's COMPLETELY washed up. he has nothing left in the tank. sims-walker became the #1 overnight in jax because holt has nothing left. and whoever disagreed about the coles/holt comparison, you might want to rethink that. yeah, holt was an all-pro receiver, but he's as far from that as he's ever been.

I think the Ravens are going to be really agressive this offseason on offense. Their defense seems to have left with Rex so they need some weapons to convert to an offensive team. They might trade for Brandon Marshall so I'm not sure that Holt would even be a starter if he went there.

    Good point!

We shouldn't get Torry Holt. He's no longer the fast.

the reason many of us don't mind the idea is because we don't need to be anything more than a slot guy. last year when his name was getting thrown around many of us said no way because he was going to be the #1 or #2 guy for us. you have no confidence that holt can still find ways to get open against a nickel back? i just don't see this being anything worse than an ok move.

Need a quicker and younger solution than Holt if you ask me. We should work him out though, nothing to lose - a decent option.

Would he want to play as a #3 WR on a running team?
