Badge,Sect. 227...I'm not saying you can't bitch about the PSLs. I think its a joke that a guy who walked into a billion-dollar fortune is squeezing money out of fans pockets, causing many to give up their tickets, or move from their area that they've been for years.

I've been to Giants Stadium twice, and it was by far the worst stadium I've been in. The red/blue seats is a disgrace, the Giants Stadium sign, having to put up banners of Jets around the wall to cover up the Giants logos, talk about 2nd rate. Nassau Coliseum is better than that dump.

I understand the Jets will always be 2nd rate, but being tenants in your own home is embarrassing. This is a new beginning, where even Rex said, fans can call it their "home"

Blast away on PSLs. I'm on YOUR side from that aspect.

LOL... I'm not making it an age thing. I have no intention of taking advantage of the youth and inexperience (as Ronald Reagan once said) of today's younger, recently-on-board Jets fan.

But no, seriously, there do seem to be two divided opinions on the new stadium. Oh yes, I'm sure, as Mack says, once you get into the new digs and look around adn you can buy a Philly Cheese Steak instead of those old, dirty-water dogs they used to sell, I suppose it'll be a fun experience. It will certainly be nice to take my grandchildren there and let them get whatever they want. So yeah, but it's a shame that the concessions couldn't have been upgraded along with some of the other "amenites" in the old place, not the least of which would be the red and blue chairs and the name on the building.

But the bottom line for a lot of fans who have been going for many years is that, we feel like we've sat out in all kinds of weather and endured lousy amenities for so long that WE HAD TO BE THERE FOR THE GAME... THAT IS WHAT WAS ALWAYS IMPORTANT TO US... there really was no other reason to be there! So now it's a gigantic leap to expect that us long-time STHers are going to all of a sudden be freaking thrilled about humungous price increases for amenities we never needed and never wanted and to have that thrust upon us with lousy sightlines to boot, and expect us to think it's all peachy keen. It ain't, and it's going to be awhile before we come around.

Well, I disagree with you on this. And I know this is going to sound crazy.

NOT ONE TIME did I ever sit in Giants Stadium and feel like the JEts were 2nd rate and tenants... blah-blah, ba-blah. Oh yeah, Giants fans have always talked about 2nd rate and "tenants," etc, but I never sat in the stands and said, "The Jets are 2nd rate and I know it. Just look around... red and blue... oh boy." No, it was all about watching Wes Walker, legally blind in one eye, making the Monday Night Miracle catch over his shoulder right down in front of my seats that night, and everybody around me is going fucking nuts. Did I look around and go, "Well, this would be really great if only my seat was green or if the name was on the building." Hell no. Everybody was dressed in green man, and that's all that mattered. No 2nd rate. None of that ever bothered me... and I'm talking hundred of games... hundreds.

Mark my words, we are going to be top dog in NY very soon, and the fucking Giants are going to be 2nd rate. Those days are gone. That's why I wanted so bad for us to make the SB this year. It's all changing, and the sooner the better. But the stadium isn't the thing that's going to change that. Again, it's not about the stadium, it's about the team. It's not about the amenities, it's about going there and watching Jets football.

    They must love you.

One thing to point out--the Jets didn't decide to knock down the old stadium, it wasn't theirs. They had to move somewhere, tried NYC and got dicked by the politicians, what were they supposed to do? I can see if they had the option to keep the old stadium but to my knowledge they had no say over it. The Giants were doing this whether the Jets moved to Manhattan, Long Island, Canada, wherever.

No one ever considered the option of the Jets buying Giants Stadium and renovating it. The Giants were shoviong the Jets around and threatening to kick them out and build their own stadium themselves. We should have told them to fuck off and go ahead and do that, then turn around and make a deal with the Sports Authority to remain in that stadium, rename it, install green seats and spruce it up.

I suppose someone considered that (at least I hope they did), but maybe it was not doable. I would have loved to see the Jets call Mara's and Tisch's bluff and tell them they made a deal with the state and now we're taking over, so go ahead and bukld your fucking monstrosity stadium by yourself and see what your PSLs are going to be then.

I am all for the new stadium. It isn't like this is the equivalent of Yankee Stadium. The old stadium will be a distant memory in 2 years time.

I can't see how that makes it the worst stadium you've been to. It was a good football-watching stadium. It's ashame they're tearing it down - very wasteful. Who cares what the sign said outside? It's just a name.

It wouldn't make business sense for the NJSEA to do that to the Giants when the Giants are building a bigger, more lucrative project. Besides, how silly and second-rate would we look with the Giants in a huge, state-of-the-art facility literally towering over their old stadium that we repainted and renamed? I don't think that was an option, and after the economy fell apart it's probably a good thing we aren't trying to build two new football stadiums to use a handful of times per year. I agree the old stadium was fine, a coat of paint and corporate sponsored name would have done the trick for me, but I don't know what other options the Jets really had.

IS, as an aside... Did you get into the Uppers this year? I seem to remember you were on the fence about it... just wondering. Hope you were able to get in (if you wanted to), that is.

I'm in 227's "age bracket", and I'm thrilled to see it torn down. The fucking place was GIANTS STADUIM. But of course, I'm still pissed they left NY.

As far as the PSL's go, doesn't much matter to me. I didn't go to many games since they left Shea. For what? Travel over two rivers and into another state to wacth the NEW YORK Jets? 4 hours of commuting? Fuck that.

I'm a TV fan. It isn't the same, but at least the Jets will play with a REAL home field advantage now. The PSL's are another whole thing, but ya know what? That is the kick in the teeth I felt when the Jets left Queens. Then at least I had Hofstra. Another kick in the teeth.

If they do have the lockout in 2011, I just might leave the NFL the way I left MLB. Greedy owners, greedy players, and they couldn't care less about the fans, only their wallets.

Agreed, the thought never crossed my mind.

I'm going to miss having a decent view from the upper deck. Sure I'll eventually get used to the new distance, but that doesn't mean it won't be a downgrade in terms of actually watching the game.

"There isn't a bad seat in the house" will now be, "There WASN'T a bad seat in the house."

Yeah, I'm in 333 with no PSL. Couldn't afford a PSL even if I thought it was a great idea, and as you've pointed out the option to walk away is nice, too.

    Question:

A Giants fan buddy told me the Giants have sold all of their PSL's except for the luxury box ones... is that true?

Good for you... glad to see as many of the old crew stick around as possible. The reassignments of seats this past year was nothing like I thought it was going to be. I don't know why I thought this, but I actually hoped Woody Johnson cared enough about the STHers enough to not disrupt the whole apple cart. Man, was I ever wrong.

    Fuck You, Woody Johnson

I remember a few weeks back watching the news about it, I believe it was the days leading up the Chargers game and there was a possiblity of a jets home title game. They had mentioned that when it was demolished the FBI would not investigate if Jimmy Hoffa's body was actualyl buried underneathe one o the endzones. Not saying that he is buried there but this is really the only chance they would get, might as well take a shot at it.

Gonna try, all bullshit aside I love the Jets and going to the games.

For this thread, a few pics from the last game--Jets 37 Bengals 0, in case anyone forgot the score:
