Fans like you that accept medicore teams year after year are not what this team needs so why do you not go root for a team that loses year after year? I sure U heard the saying U R what U R record says U R & the last I looked Woody has owned the team 10 years & his his record is 0-10 in bringing a VLT to the NYJs & that is the fact Jack
Most idiotic stamement I have ever heard ... I guess that there are very few owners that are any good ... It isn't his job to bring the VLT to us, it is his job to give the GM and coaches the tools to do so ... He has given them most of the tools, and the ones that we haven't gotten sure aren't his fault ...
Well at least U R bit correct since he hired or approved of hiring Herm, Bradway, Groh & Mangini who did wonders in getting us closer to the VLT. Oh yes they say ur record is what U R & woodys record to date is 0-10 in bringing the VLT to us
I think this is a big factor into why the Jets have not been able to make that push. Too many new systems. Woody has done a good job bringing in the right people. Tanny has been here through most of Woody's ownership. Groh was a waste. Hermie was a talker that was too scared at the end of cames to close out. Now I think if Mangini was given more time, he might have been successful. He had a pretty good team around him. But we (or at least most of us) disliked the Gestapo attitude. But I think he was a good coach. Rex, as you say, is a new broom. The problem is we as fans, are all very impatient and if we have a 4-12 season next year or the year after, we will be calling for Rex's job. Its not fair. Cowher was given 14 years to bring the SB back to the Steelers. Will Rex be given 5 to 10 years? He's just starting so you have to give him and his staff some time. Also need a couple years to get some draft picks back so Rex can bring in his kinda talent. If the Jets are in the playoffs 7 of the next 10 years and don't win a SB, it is a failure - but I also think being relevant is important too. I'd rather see the Jets be a perennial playoff team than win 1 SB and drop back into mediocrity. However, I think Rex and his style won't allow that to happen. But as fans we are all quick to judge and forget that even small injuries (See Strickland in AFCCG vs Colts) can ruin a team's chance. Quick word on the Stadium not being NYC. I'm from Jersey so I am perfectly happy being able to stand on my front porch and stretch a bit above the roof of the house across the street and see my spanking new stadium! You guys talk about Woody failing cause you're from NY. I think Woody gets the win cause I'm from NJ. Its your perspective so you have to take your love affair of where you live out of the equation. That being said - PSL are rip off, especially with TWO teams owning the same building. No more season tickets for me. I'll just buy a ticket once a year to go see a game.
So if that is the mark in your opinion, then since 1975 there are only 14 good owners ... and those include Al Davis, Dan Snyder, and Glazer ... So the Tampa Bay Buc's owner is better than Woody, for the simple reason he won a VLT .... I don't buy into that thinking ... The coaches you can judge by VLT's ... to a point ... But owners can't win the games, they have final say as to who is hired to coach and play, but most of the owners are business men, football is a business to them ... They try and surround themself with knowledgable people and take what they say as correct ... I for one do not want anything like Al Davis and Jerry Jones and even Ralph Wilson ... They are owners and they are NOT football evaluaters ...
You have your opinion and that is to be respected as is anyone elses ... There is no final answer to this argument ... We all have our opinion and no one is wrong, just different ....
I completely agree with you. Woody bashers are generally brainless. Woody is obviously an above-average owner.
Wow just wow. 0-10 in winning a SB so he sucks as owner. Id much rather have woody with his 0-10 as owner then al davis as owner or Dan Snyder. Most the teams you mentioned winning so many SB did so in the era of presalary cap. Patriots don't count cuz we know they cheated. I've never even seen a SB win for the team in 20 years of being a fan at least you have one in your 40 years of being a fan so shut the fuck up and enjoy the last ten years of measurable success compared with the 30 years before that of being one of the laughingstocks of the NFL.
Sorry that U are satisfied with unsuccessful seasons since if U do not win the SB which is what the regular season is played for your season is a flop. That includes all 31 teams who do not win it.
I'm not satisfied I don't think I said I was. But I am happy that in the last 10 years we've finally seen a shift in the organization that gives us HOPE we will win a SB or two in the coming years. You've got that SB winning happy feeling for the Jets I dont and a large majority of other fans out there don't as well.
