3 ROUND MOCK DRAFT DISCUSSION THREAD REMEMBER DON'T DISCUSS UNDRAFTED PLAYERS This thread for discussions only!!
I know it's difficult to pass up a QB, but SUH is a once in a decade player...I'm in your camp MB...nice pick.
I thought long and hard about taking a QB....but I'm thinking Spags wants to build a fierce pass rush like he had in New York.....Suh will look good on a line with C.Long, Carriker and Chief Little Dink.
You thief! But I agree with your pick... the Rams weren't only a QB away... they need to get that D better. Oh well, I think the Lions should actually be pretty pleased about getting McCoy. He's an excellent player and IMO an excellent combination with Hill in the middle. Plus remember Schwarz was the DC for the Titans when Haynesworth was there... he knows how to get the best out of DTs...
^ hahaha! McCoy is no slouch either....a good pick for the Lions....they need someone on that line with Cliff Avril.
Avril - McCoy - Hill - ??? With another good player at RDE they could be having a solid DL for years to come... If they draft decently (I'll do my best ) they could actually be a decent team next year.
We might get that sorted out well before the draft if they indeed make a move for Vick... which I think they will...
This is what I was thinking too.....the Rams could make a play for Vick, McNabb or some other QB in Free Agency....
I can't disagree with the first two selections - Suh is the best player in the draft and Gerald McCoy is the best player for the Lions. I really think the Rams will try to swap picks with Tampa, and take a quarterback*...even if they do trade a late-rounder for Mike Vick. However, in a draft with no trades, taking Suh is a no brainer. Good picks guys.
Guys .....I Know we just started.....BUT NO MENTIONING OF UNDRAFTED PLAYERS>>>READ THE RULES...THX, Please continue.
I was just about to say that it didn't take long for that rule to get broken. The first rule of any mock draft is DO NOT MENTION UNDRAFTED PLAYERS.
so the Campbell era has taken a dive in Wash....nice pick, BakerMaker. Shanahan will make sure Clausen reaches his potential.
KC takes Rolando McClain......the new leader and "QB" of the Chief's defense. No OT was worth the #5 selection.......McClain is one of the best players in this draft.
the chiefs need a leader...and an identity for that matter...on Defense....i like the McClaine pick, WW...good choice. not sure about Seattle's pick though.....i didn't think Okung was top 5 material....wasnt he getting beat a lot this year? thoughts?
I think Okung if he gets to 6, the Seahawks will dance like its New Years. That Seahawk line was THAT bad and Carroll surely has to know that you need O-Line to get anywhere in the NFL. And goodbye Jason Campbell, you have a money hungry owner who nearly got Sanchez last year and needs to get a big name to help sell the tickets. New GM and new HC means your done. The Great Jimmy Clausen has cometh.
An explanation for my Bradford pick, which I expect may be somewhat controversial: -First of all, I should say that I hate this pick as the Raiders GM, and if I was actually Al Davis, I'd trade down -Since we can't trade down in this mock, I would take Bradford, though I don't at all think that's what they will do since Al still loves JaMarcus. Why Bradford? -Yes, they have a lot of money in Russell. But as of yet, he hasn't shown any signs of even being a capable NFL backup. He was losing his job to guys like Gradkowski and Frye at the end of the year. -If Russell struggles mightily again in 2010, they're going to start looking for a replacement. Unfortunately for them, they traded their 1st rounder next year for Richard Seymour, meaning they'll have a hard time finding a new franchise QB. -They have a big need at OT, but I'm not in love with any of the OTs after Okung in the top 10. To me, there's about 5 guys after him who don't really separate themselves from one another, and I couldn't chose one over the other. There's one I slightly prefer, but I still think he's a slight reach at 8, and with the depth at OT in this year's draft, I still think I can find a solid one later on. -With the QBs on the other hand, there's a huge dropoff after Bradford, and I don't think any QB after Claussen and Bradford in this draft has the chance to be a star. Thus, for me, Bradford was the BPA at a huge need position, so I went with him. -The worst thing this would do for JaMarcus Russell is motivate him to improve. You could have a QB battle in camp, and even give JaMarcus the chance to start for one more year. He'd be looking over his shoulder at Bradford, which would hopefully motivate him to turn into the player Davis originally thought he could be. If not, you have Bradford ready to step in in 2011, as your new franchise QB, no harm done...with an extra year to recover from the surgery as well. -If JaMarcus plays well, then you have a situation like the Chargers had with Brees/Rivers, and you can trade one, hopefully to recuperate the 2011 1st round pick they lost in the Seymour deal. If it's Bradford you're going to trade, you may not get the #8 pick in return, but some QB-needy team whose not in position to grab their own franchise QB in next year's draft would certainly be willing to give up a first, maybe plus more to assure they get him. And if it was the selection of Bradford that was the factor that motivated Russell to become a star, then the pick was worth it no matter what you get back in a trade IMO.
But Bradford ain't got no pocket arm... to crazy Al that takes him out of the "football player" conversation. In real life with a real owner if that was a real franchise though... that would make sense. I still think at least anoter OL will separate from the others in the draft process... ther will be at least 2 OTs in the top 10... but I can see the Raiders getting their LT in rd 2 (maye trading up a bit). WW85: McClain is THAT good? I take your word for it
Haden to the Browns is a money pick. Mangini knows first hand what an elite corner can do for a team, and that's exactly what Joe Haden can be. Love him, one of my favorite corner prospects in a while. And if he wasn't on the board, I would have been very happy to have done the same thing WW did and picked McClain, too bad he took him 2 picks early.
