First off make it aware I can not confirm this source in ANY WAY. So if you don't believe it, just take it with a grain of salt. http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=2000211&topic=53249669 My bro works with a third party company that works with the NFL for the scheduling period. Making the schedule for the next season is a huge process because you have to schedule around already scheduled events, have to take team requests (I.E. Tampa Bay doesn't want to play SF on the road one week and then Cleveland on the road the next) and figure out what teams get MNF, SNF, TNF game and how many. Then you have to proof read the schedule to make damn sure you don't have any conflicts and that no team is getting screwed by travel time and days between games and that stuff. ESPN and NBC send in their requests this time of the year. From what I've heard we'll see, in no order: MNF: Dallas/Philly New England/Green Bay Atlanta/New Orleans Indy/NY Giants New England/NY Jets Dallas/NY Giants Philly/Washington Indy/Houston Green Bay/Philly Tennessee/Houston Pittsburgh/New Orleans Denver/San Diego on Christmas They second MNF game on opening week will probably be Oakland/San Fran but San Diego/Oakland, Denver/Oakland and Oakland/Seattle are also being thrown around SNF: New Orleans/Baltimore Minnesota/Dallas Dallas/Washington Pittsburgh/Atlanta New England/Indy Green Bay/Minnesota San Diego/New England Dallas/Indy San Diego/Indy New Orleans/Minnesota And the opening thursday night game of the season depends on who wins the Super Bowl. If New Orleans wins it will be New Orleans/Atlanta at the SuperDome and if Indy wins it will be Indy/Cincinnati at Lucas Oil Stadium Thanksgiving games will be Detroit/NY Jets and Dallas/Chicago. Tampa Bay/Carolina will probably be the night game. Those are the requests ESPN/NBC have sent in for MNF and SNF that have been accepted and will happen. There's a bunch more games that have been requested but CBS/FOX have protected or the NFL just didn't accept. So....fire away on questions, comments, etc Thoughts? Comments? and please don't attack me because their is no validity behind it. For now its a rumor, ALTHOUGH I have heard by other people that the Jets would be playing the Lions on Thanksgiving. So this isn't the first time i've heard this idea tossed around.
That's great if true - I HATE Sunday night games. If we HAVE to play one in the flex, that's fine because the game is usually important but the Sunday night games until then literally destroy my day.
Is it to crazy to dream that this MNF game would be a home game? New England is already playing Indy at home on SNF. They are also playing Green Bay at home on MNF. So i'm pretty sure this might be a home game for us.
I Like both of them. Jets vs Pats on MNF is gonna be great and playing the Lions on Thanksgiving i like too we have the two young guns going against eachother in Sanchez and Stafford.
No offense but I'm a little skeptical of your proposed list of MNF games. Since the start of SNF and the new MNF, the games on Monday night tend to feature a lot of teams that weren't so great the year before. Generally, the "dream" matchups are saved for SNF. Now, of course, with the parity in the NFL these days, a lot of matchups that look great at the start of the season end up being trash and vice-versa. The thing is, looking at your list of MNF games, almost all the teams were either in the playoffs this year or were damn close . . . Think back to the MNF schedule the past few years . . . Where are the Browns, 49ers, Seahawks, etc, etc. on your proposed list?? I don't know, you could be dead on, I'm just saying it seems a litte fishy . . .
Honestly, I hate the idea of the Jets playing on Thanksgiving. We always have Thanksgiving at my house, too many people and rugrats everywhere...can't concentrate on the game.
Also, with the thanksgiving games, I thought the way it worked was all 32 teams rotated playing the Lions and Cowboys . . . How can we be playing either of them on thanksgiving when we just played Dallas back in 07 on thanksgiving?
You live close enough that Thanksgiving could be in Detroit... if this happened I will be there. I missed the last game because my so was born the day before. I got called by my wife at work the day I was leaving for Dallas. I just have a hard time believing we'd play on Thanksgiving 2 of the last 4 years.
That NYJ CowGirl game was scheduled cause we were playing NFC east that year. That's probably why that matchup was scheduled then. Besides, NE has like 10 primetime games a year cause Brady is #2 NFL poster boy. Its Time the Jets had their time in the sun.
I'm sort of skeptical of that schedule. According to that, Philly would have 3 monday night games...I can't think of a time that has ever happened to a team.
Plus, they always make the Lions game the 12:30 one. Cowboys always get the late afternoon game. Would rather see them get the Thanksgiving night game.
The Jets/Lions on Thanksgiving makes a lot of sense for whichever network has the game. The Lions are a terrible sell on Thanksgiving because they suck so bad. Now they'll have the Sanchez/Stafford bowl to promote and people will tune in to watch that.
