    Same here.

And why does everyone keep getting NSFW pics for avatars!?!?! I'm glad I have my own office, but one day TGG is going to cause me a real problem.

it seems like you have some inside info, but personally i want him out of here. this team's new identity is to love football and hit people right in the mouth, and i don't think rhodes does either of those. he's focused on so many other things than football and hasn't put a good hit on anyone all year. i could have intercepted one of the balls he caught in carolina.

jim leonard plays harder and better than him. i would think we could get atleast a 4th rounder for him, and maybe even a conditional pick for 2011 on top of that.

I think everyone wishing Kerry out of NY should be careful what they wish for. We could do a lot worse than Rhodes.

I recognize that he needs a major attitude adjustment, but it's much easier to adjust an attitude than to adjust talent. Rex has done pretty well at adjusting some attitudes this year so I'm not ruling out his ability to do that w/Kerry just yet.

attitude adjustments aside.....Rex needs to teach Kerry the fundamentals all over again...like how to tackle and finish plays off (instead of dancing to the sideline prematurely).

Both of which can be directly linked to attitude. The premature celebration enraged me.

I think we just see things differently. I see him as very passionate perhaps just bit inconsistent. But nobody is perfect. And just because a person has outside interests and they happen to be in entertainment or acting doesn't mean that they are unfocused. Jay Feely is a great guy, he does alot of off-the-field work in politics but it doesn't get covered b/c it's not as "interesting" to average fan as what Kerry does. I don't have any problem with anyone doing off the field/court things as long as the player performs to their contract. IMO he has done that.

And like WhiteShowWillie said, be careful what you wish for...you can work on focus, you can't teach God Given talent.

    Exactly.

You actually bring up an interesting point. People slam Rhodes for his off-field desires and his Tweeting. However, Jay Feely spends significantly more time on Twitter talking politics that based on the conversations that occur in the BS Forum, this site would have many members up in arms about. He's stated his desire many times to go into politics after football as well.

People have decided to dislike Kerry Rhodes, and no matter what he does, short of a Revis-like season, nothing is going to change their minds.

Exactly, once people have a certain pre-determined opinion about a player, it's tough to change their mind. And even if the player has an All-Pro year, they may decide to love him..but only until he drops 1 pass or blows 1 coverage...then all of sudden, he's a bum again. Just the way life as a pro athlete is. It is what it is..and most players take it for what it is. It's the trade off for all the upside.

Let's not get confused... it's not about INTERESTS it's about PRIORITIES!

You can have all the interests and off-the-field activities you want... but your number one worry (except family) has to be that you are a football player for the Jets!

In Rhodes' case I don't think his priorities are very clear...

Send Rhodes to Oakland. Maybe that 'change of scenery' will put things in perspective for him.

Dude, how many years ago did Rhodes get to the Pro Bowl? Yuo make sound as though no player in the history of sport has ever gotten complacent about his results. If a player has one great season he's great forever?

Let's look at Rhodes history please:

    2005 Rookie played well

    2006 Played exceptionally well

2007 Got the money and played mediocre

2008 Got the money and played mediocre

2009 Got the money and played mediocre (bad at first, better as time went on)

Now please explain to me how 1 year of great and three of mediocre (which all incidentally came AFTER he got the money and notoriety) = Great player!?

In my book a great player is one that might have a bad season or two but at the end of the day plays great in at least 70-80% of his career.
Rhodes is under 50% which happen to coincide when he wasn't famous and when he wasn't rich.

    Mmm... who knows...

PS the funny thing is he was an ALL-PRO second teamer... not even a first teamer :p

The thing that concerns me the most is whether or not toughness and attitude can be taught. Despite Ryan being a good coach, motivator, and teacher, can you instill toughness in anyone?

I just don't see Rhodes as the type of guy who will suddenly transform into this fierce player: hard, solid tackling; coming up to make hits on the ball-carrier; WRs fearing his presence; an intensity that emanates from a Rex Ryan D.

I really don't believe these things can be taught to just any person. If it's not being exhibited, then maybe it can be tapped into by the coach or whoever. But Rhodes doesn't strike me as the type of person who will be receptive to that. No facts to bakc this up; just my .02 and gut feeling.

And you may very well be right, but he has shown he has the talent. That's why I'd be willing to give him another year under Rex to see if maybe he can turn him around.

Jay Feely just has to kick the ball, he can do whatever he wants outside of football. He doesn't have to watch films and prepare the same way Kerry Rhodes does

That's fair. And yeah, I'm not denying Rhodes' talent/athletic ability. But it'll only take him so far. I'd be willing to wait it out another year to see what Rex can extract from him.

It's just mind-boggling that you can be on a D that has guys like Revis and Scott (work ethic and attitude, respectively), as well as Rex as your coach, and still have your head elsewhere. That's why I really question his character's toughness. Suffice to say, if it doesn't happen next year, it never will.

What kills me is, I've seen him quoted as claiming to have played at an 'All-Pro' level for years before Rex Ryan got here. In a conference with Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu, he's barely, barely a competitor for a pro bowl spot, he never has been All Pro.

This league is loaded with talented players, and a new generation of talent breaks the doors down every year. You could find plenty of linebackers with more physical talent than Ray Lewis; it isn't God given talent that's made him the best of his generation, it's the intensity and focus that he brings to the game, all day every day. It's pretty much undisputed that Rhodes doesn't have anything close to that sort of passion, he goes to work and then he goes home. Complimenting Rhodes is arguably the most destructive thing Belichick ever did to this franchise.

BTW, JetsFan711, I don't know what exactly leads you to write like you have some sort of inside info, but if you don't, you better realize this is the first and last time anybody on this board takes you even remotely seriously. If you just like Rhodes and 'see him differently' than other people, it's probably not wise to prance around like you're in the know.

I don't understand why they would have a SNY 'special' with Kerry Rhodes to announce something as groundbreaking as 'I'm going to stay a Jet and play hard I pwomise guize!!!' You're supposed to do that.

He's either retiring or saying he enjoyed his stay with the team but it's time for a change of location. We'll find out in an hour and a half.

It's not really a special I don't think, he's on there every week all year on the Wheelhouse. The just switched his normal time slot from Tuesday to Wed b/c of the off-season.
