I cant see Kerry asking to get traded. His model buddy Braylon is here and if he wants this career outside of Football he needs to stay in NY. I think Ryan just put him on notice that his position would be up for grabs and if he wants it he needs to step up. Some other comments Ryan made in the PC were aimed directly at Rhodes. I also think some of the communication issues in the secondary most likely were his doing, just like the Jacksonville game. Smith can get the job done, but the old Kerry from 3 years ago is a beast and a top 5 safety. Physically he is still capable, mentally I dont know.
 You guys are so funny with all this speculation!:"He said "they" and not "we"... Just tune in tomorrow and you'll see.
Guessing I think Ryan might have told him to think about if he wants to return here and if so he has to restructure his contract, have a completely different attitude, and rededicate himself to the sport, and if he cant commit to those things the jets have to release him.
which ones do you think? the one where he said you will be an outcast in the locker room if you dont study and practice hard?
Yeah, and your analysis of 'Kerry and Rex just talked about this and that end of story he's not leaving' was so much more insightful
Perhaps because I have a little more insight into the situation. The quickest way to a destination is usually a straight line.
just curious if anyone knows if Rhodes and Gholston bunked together in Cortland this summer. That would explain a lot. just asking....
I know exactly what was said. "Let me ask you, Kerry: where don't you want to go?" But in all seriousness, I bet that was the conversation. Earlier in the year, I'd guess Rex said "Look, anybody in the Ravens organization will tell you I'm a loyal guy. Give me your best effort for the rest of the season, and I'll make sure we do right by you if we need to trade." This was just a "you did right by me, we're not going to send you to the Lions," etc.
Kerry Rhodes is sensitive. Repeatedly he has gotten into arguments with Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts because they are critical of his work this past season. Francesa also says all the time he doesn't like him. He is always tweeting about "haters" and fans that give him a hard time. He knows he's not appreciated here - he said it himself via twitter a few times. He is one of those guys that pays attention to what is said about him. There are some guys that embrace the challenge and choose to prove their worth on the field. There are other guys that complain about not getting star treatment. Kerry Rhodes is the later. Recently, people have been a lot more supportive of him, but I'm sure he knows that if he struggles at all he's right back in the dog house. I do think it's best for both to cut ties, but I'm not sure if that will happen just yet. There just isn't enough info yet to tell.
According to Kerry's Twitter: I will address the talk about my situation on SNY 2morrow evening tune in!! He also tweeted NFL Life on ESPN. In fact, they read his tweet on the air. Here's what he asked in their segment titled, "Twitter Tuesday:" do u guys think that the JET's future is bright and is the team early superbowl contenders? Darren Sharper's answer to this question.....Yes, definately. He mentioned that getting Leon Washington back and Sanchez with a year under his belt will be huge.
nail on the head if he stays here and plays poorly its the same shit all over again... the situation is fucked up with him at this point... let him go
Lol does anyone else realize this is a male soap opera? Rhodes actually plays the part really well...lol people love his twitters and I guarantee we'll have a nice little thread tomorrow after the SNY show. He is a sensitive fuck isn't it? I hope he works on that and comes back with a chip on his shoulder.
Part of Kerry's problem might have been learning the defense, once Leonhard took over the defensive "playcalling" and started being the centerfielder, Rhodes played better. If Kerry stays he is going to need to put in some serious work. My guess is that Rex and Kerry had a conversation where Rex basically said "look Kerry, you are one of the most athletically gifted players on this defense, you can be as good as you want to be, but you have to want it, you have to dedicate yourself to this team, to your football family. I want you on this team Kerry, I want you to make plays, but you need to want it, etc..." I have a feeling that Kerry's big announcement is going to be about his dedication to the Team, to his coach, and to "playing like a Jet." That said, if Rhodes is gone and Smith is his replacement, Leonhard needs to play FS (the centerfielder role, ala Ed Reed) and Smith need to play the role of a more traditional SS who is more for run support and occasional help over the top.
Rex wants tough, aggresive team players. Hecould care less about talent, or potential. This is tjecomplete opposite of Karrie. I feel the conversation was Rex and Karrie agreeing that neither would bad mouth the other and Rhodes would be traded to a coach with no backbone will tell him how good he is and let him model, not workout, all off season. Maybe we can shop him to Dallas.
5:30 SNY on the Wheelhouse Kerry Rhodes traded to Panthers for Julius Peppers and 2 draft picks for 2011 :drunk:
overall, kerry had a solid, unspectacular year. yes, he was out of position many times this season, but there are very few safeties who are in perfect position all the time i think our issue is that we already have a solid, unspectacular saftey, in leonard, and hes a better fit in rex's system ... what we need opposite leonard is a ball hawk
Kerry has played beneath his capabilities but trading him would do more harm than good. He has all the potential. You can't just trade that away and expect to find something of equal value.
