Under the new CBA you can only sign big FAs if you lose someone of the same financial caliber, if I remember correctly. So what is stopping this team from cutting Gholston, and picking up a big name to replace him since his contract is big enough to satisfy the standards of an uncapped year. Please tell me I'm on to something.
1. The player has to become a free agent due to an expiring contract. Waived/cut players do not count. 2. The limit on signing a free agent is based on the money the departing free agent receives in his new contract, not his previous one. 3.
We can only sign the cut players from another team. Gholston isn't a RFA, so we can't just not offer him a contract. I think he gets one more year. I think he does pretty well too. I'm dreamin' big...fuckin might as well.
