With the need of a Veteran QB backup I think Pennington could help Sanchez with his turnovers and efficiency for next year as are passing game grows. He'd be a great mentor, knows the playbook, and will be a great locker room prescience. Id let go of Kellen and keep Ainge maybe O'Connell as well

I wouldn't be mad at all having Pennington back.

Jets have limited free agency capability.

Dont think theyd use it to pick up penny, although would be nice seeing him in NY

I'd love to see him back Sanchez up, but I don't see it happening because he would command too much money and might be able to find a starting job somewhere else. He also might still have some ill feelings towards the jets after we cut him for Favre.

No reason to pay starter money to a back-up.

But if we let go of Kellen wouldn't it almost equal out? I dont think Penni could become a starter anywhere after his surgery so coming to NY could be more opportune for him

Chad could teach Drew Coleman how to haul in an interception.

If we let Kellen go it allows us to pick up another FA that we could use the extra depth at (ie wr,cb,de,nt)

Good point depth is definitely something we need to address but if there is any room left where he could fit in id want him ina heartbeat

He wants to be a starter and has publicly said that he didn't like the way the Jets treated him in '08. I highly doubt he wants anything to do with the Jets backup QB role.

Chad still thinks he can start and he is not really happy with Tannenbaum for cutting him so unceremoniously. There's no way he comes back here and we really don't need him here.

Why let go of kellen? Leave it as is, Pennington would be too expensive.

His contract is up and he's a terrible NFL quarterback. That's why.

Well after coming off that harsh injury im not sure how many would want him as a starter and theres a new head coach in NY and i feel this organization has changed. The fans would all welcome him back as well IMO.
