I was referring to the "the guy just knows how to win" comments. That's all I ever heard about Michael Vick once he hit the NFL.
If Tebow's mechanics could be fixed so easily then why hasn't anybody done it yet? It's incredibly hard to change how a guy throws a ball...If that's how he naturally throws a ball then g'luck with that. And completion % isn't so much a mark of accuracy...more a mark of how many passes he completed compared to how many he threw. Tebow's poor mechanics leaves him with poor ball placement skills...and it'd be heavily magnified in the NFL...the reason his completion% was so high is because Florida is so loaded with weapons that someone is (I want to say LITERALLY here, but won't) always open.
Why should Urban Meyer give a shit about Tim Tebow's throwing motion if it works perfectly fine in his offense? It hasn't needed to be fixed because of that system. Playing in that offense should be the biggest knock on Tim Tebow. All I'm saying is: If you give Tim Tebow three downs to score inside the five, chances are he's going to find the endzone...whether it's on the ground or through the air.
It's a lot similar to Pat White in last year's draft, except Tim Tebow is much more of a threat in short yardage situations.
You're not exactly helping him here...he can't throw the ball like a QB, he doesn't have terrific footwork, and he comes from a college offense that doesn't produce NFL QBs. Make him a FB/TE then...
I'm not trying to "help" him. I know that he's not going to be a starting quarterback in the NFL, but he'll definitely be an effective package quarterback. Alex Smith didn't look too bad this season either.
Alex Smith was and is way ahead of Tebow as a QB. And of course he can be an effective package QB...Brad Smith is an effective package QB.
You said Meyer's offense doesn't produce NFL QBs...I gave Alex Smith as an example. I wasn't comparing Tim Tebow and Alex Smith. Brad Smith offers basically nothing as a receiver. He's become a halfway decent return man, but his true value is in specific gadget packages. Tebow should thrive in short-yardage situations out of the Wildcat.
Reports from yesterday's Senior Bowl workouts, the Jets were looking at Eric Norwood and Joe Webb. Nice to see the Jets showing some attention to Norwood. I can't understand looking at Joe Webb, he would be another Brad Smith. Take this all with a grain of salt, usually doesn't mean much, but you never know.
Awesome, Norwood would be a good pick. He can step in and contribute right away with his experience at OLB.
http://www.draftcountdown.com/features/SeniorBowl/reports/Weigh-In.php Link to weigh-ins and the ever important descriptions of the players bodies. One thing you can count on Scott Wright for, creepy comments on the bodies of young men.
Scott Wright is just plain Creepy. I brought this up before....Anyone notice Graham's arm lenght?.....2 inches shorter than then average player at his position.
Yes, and I was simply pointing out that Alex Smith is way more fundamentally sound as a QB. Also, we don't know if Tebow can catch passes. I'm not even going to debate Tebow. If the Jets draft him I'd be very, very shocked and very disappointed.
Tebow struggles while CB Cox shines looks like joe webb is impressing ... http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft10/insider/news/story?id=4858004
I read the Jet's were very interested in Joe Webb. I hope we go in another direction, while Webb may be doing well, I don't want another transition player at WR.
Brad Smith will be a restricted free agent, so someone might be willing trade a late round pick for him. Joe Webb would be able to fill his role right away. I wouldn't be excited about the pick, but it wouldn't be disappointing either. Webb was one of the best rushing QBs in all of college football.
