there are two realities people need to understand: 1. we are not going to be able to sign any free agents without losing one of our own first. seeing as we don't have many free agents that will be desirable to other teams, we won't be getting anyone on the first tier. 2. Rex has a very specific type of person in mind when he says "play like a Jet". honestly, a lot of these guys like Peppers don't fit that mold of being the tough, team-first, high-character, stand-behind-your-teammates types that we want to be signing.
I want to see us go after Little. I'm assuming he still has gas in the tank. He is a fantastic pass-rusher.
i think the only addition i'd like to see on offense from the draft, aside from maybe oline depth, is a solid slot receiver. wouldn't mind seeing them pick up jordan shipley in the 2nd round.
I think we will look to add a CB to play opposite Revis through Free Agency. I think we will try to add to this team mainly through the draft this off season and I expect us to be fairly quiet in regards to making a "big splash". Although I agree that you can never rule out a trade especially with Tannenbaum.
I'd love to get Richard Seymour! I know he's 30, but just the idea of Seymour coming to the Jets to play next to Big Jenks is awesome. Playing him against the Patriots on Sunday Night football would be epic! Think about it. Disclaimer: I know the Zombies will probably franchise him...
Would love Seymour too...especially if we drafted someone like Odrick or Oghobaase in the 3rd (or earlier, possibly)...he'd be the perfect mentor. He and McGinest are going to end up coaches in this league.
I was thinking, why not swap Rhodes with Brodney Pool? Mangina likes his players and Pool had 4 ints in 11 games last year, plus he's only 25.
I agree with all but Ellis. I don't think we have anybody to replace him with right now. The Jets have no 3rd, 4th or 5th round picks. It be hard to do much in the draft so any moves will have to come through trade.
i realize this won't be a very popular thing to say here, but I Say we contact Atlanta, bring back Abe. He had an average year this year, he makes a lot of money, maybe Atlanta would ship him back to us for a 2nd or third round pick. Under Rex's system, I think Abe would mature as a player. He will put pressure on teh quaterback.
also sheppards pie needs to go. we need bull rushers on the end who can drive an offensive tackle back into the qb. you dont need a de who just runs around a tackle but through him.
Leon isn't going anywhere. They will sign him to some incentive heavy deal I bet to see how the leg holds up or they low ball him with a contract, but one thing the offense lacked after he went down was any threat of a screen/dump off guy. Leon would open up so much more options for the running/passing game it is critical they bring him back. You don't use him as a typical RB anyway..maybe 5 carries a game if that. Plus he is a solid special teams guy - punt returning sucked with Cothery.
