Surprised that Callahan didn't get another job or surprised that Callahan didn't get fired. We had an amazing offensive line this season and Rex will probably want to keep him around to train the replacements for Fanace and Woody, who will likely be gone in the next couple of years. O'Dea is the least surprising of the list.
It's funny how everyone is stunned that Plank was fired, just because he was tight with Buddy Ryan 20 years ago. Rex is his own man, who knows what went on behind the scenes there. Also, if I'm not mistaken Smith left of his own accord to become D-Line coach at Tennessee.
Sorry, the coach didn't give me the swing away sign............. I can't, I simply can't.......... I must respond but unfortunately I can not. Edit: Uh you wouldn't fire him after yesterdays performance? (yeah can't help myself)
Yeah But Greene got injured because of bad blocking. His blood is on Bill Callahans faulty coaching. ..... Beat that chump.
LOL I got Cato too ............... LOL unreal. I don't know if I am good or you really think I could come up with something that retarded. I am both happy and sad at the same time............. GFY Cato. lol BTW nice edit That was quick.
It's the end of the season, so I'm just expecting the most retarded posts to be coming from all angels. But yea, you were good. Nice job.
hahaha the minute you told me to stay out of it I THEN realized who you were arguing with. Then I knew what was going on. There is so much retardation going on its hard to know whats real and what isn't. Damn you Puck.
It appears not. So much retardation, you just claw at anyone with an illogical post. Sarcasm or not. I can't wait until Combine starts. These idiots fade, and this place is restored once again.
Revis's comments are very instructive. Read them again and consider the following: (1) Revis is not someone to BS. His comments regarding WR's and 'slouches' was true. He's not going to lie or throw his own teammates under the boss. (2) I believe (know) that Revis is the best CB on our team, probably the league. At the same time, I do not believe that the gap between our 2 corners is that one is a 100% shut-down and the other guy is going to be torched repeatedly. Something is wrong -- even if the other CB doesn't clamp down on his WR, he should be able to make a FEW plays during a game. You can't possibly be burned 80-90% of the time, excluding incomplete passes. My theory on why the performance gap between Reevis and the other secondary guys should NOT have been that big but was follows below. (3) You have 2 safeties. They know that one CB (Reevis) doesn't need any help; that means they only need worry about 1/2 the field. With this known, our safeties still didn't make many plays (interceptions, knock-downs) this year or against Manning. Ed Reed plays the position as a free-roamer; we should have someone be able to replicate to some extent what he does. I am NOT saying our safeties should be Ed Reed-like; I am saying with a decent rush/blitz package and with Reevis taking on the top WR by himself, these guys should have been doing more. The fact that they weren't -- and the fact that KR specifically wasn't doing anything for the first half of the year -- shows something was wrong beyond not just having guys who weren't good enough. I don't believe we have 1 superstar (Reevis) and 3 guys who are barely above waiver-wire quality. (4) Go back to the Atlanta game. Strickland (or was it Sheppard ?) is DEFINITIVELY TOLD not to worry about the WR breaking to the right sideline (covered by Reevis). It's a tougher catch and Reevis is our #1 CB. Strickland/Sheppard is told to block the TE and/or cover the interior. So what does he do ? He breaks left to cover the WR covered by Reevis and leaves the #1 TE target (Gonzalez) free breaking over the goalline for the game-winning TD. We lost the game specifically because the guy improvised or thought 'he saw something he should react to' and DISOBEYED the coaching staff's clear (and logical) orders. Again....he didn't break to cover a #1 WR covered by a weak CB and leave a 2ndary TE unguarded.....he left to cover a 2ndary WR covered by the leagues best CB and left Gonzalez (the Falcons #1 clutch receiver) unguarded. Why is this important? I think for the same reason that Brett Favre attempted that last pass the other night against NO even though he knows from 9th grade you do NOT throw across the grain going right esp. in that situation, he thought he could do it. Strickland/Sheppard though he could break with the WR and still get back in time to cover Gonzalez. That safety on the Giants -- who allowed the Philly guy to beat him for a 65-yard TD right after the Giants had come back to take the lead -- was SPECIFICALLY TOLD to cover the WR and not worry about the run. So what did he do ? He moved up to play the run.....Eagles score the TD....Giants lose. IN ALL 3 CASES....COACHES GAVE THE CORRECT ORDERS, PLAYERS IMPROVISED AND IT BLEW UP BIG TIME. I mention this because while I recognize PM is a special QB, nobody should have 2nd and 3rd WR's and 2nd TE's that open repeatedly. I think there is alot more to what Reavis knows and I think today's dismissals -- which might be covered up as 'cost savings measures' -- is part of the story. I believe the failure of the asst coaches and the secondary people to be on the same page was instrumental in the loss to the Colts. Watch some of the catches, including the TD's, again. Guys are clearly barking at one another after the completions, with an exasperation and "I thought you had him" look. Exactly what were the breakdowns, I don't know. I will say this: the notion that PM was 'dissecting' the Jets defense and then 'figured it out' is 100% bull****. If you know anything about football you know that football is a game of reactions and making adjustments. The Colts did NOTHING to adjust after the early success the Jets had in covering the Colts and rushing the Colts -- it's not like they kept a RB in to block, used an extra TE to block, etc. The key was that the secondary did not hold their coverage as long and that mitigated the rush because the drops were quicker. But even on the 46-yarder, we had a screw up. One final thought: the loss of Jenkins really hurt in this game. KJ is not a sacker, but he is so strong and powerful that he can just move forward and collapse the pocket. More so than Brady, Manning does not like to throw from the sidelines, rushes less, and needs to stay in the pocket or move up into it. Jenkins strength was collapsing the pocket and if you go back and look at the games we played, those QB's who don't like to move around (Scwab, Collins) really struggled against us. Manning is NO WHERE NEAR THE PASSER to his WR's and TE when he is throwing from closer to the hash-lines. The loss of Jenkins really hurt here. In a game with a scrambler and/or a rusher (Vick, McNabb, etc), Jenkins may actually hurt you but against Manning, his abscence was a killer because this is the type of QB he excells at disrupting because there is no way the Center can stop him alone, which means either they need a Guard to help out and fall back to block him (pocket is gone) or the DE's have single coverage which means one of them might reach Manning.
Just to correct you because I went over this play when it happened... -Strickland was the DB who slid over and left the passing lane open. -Lito was the CB on that side covering the WR who crossed and was going towards the sideline -Revis was actually the CB on the Other side of the field away from the play. Gonzalez was in the Zone between Harris, Smith, Leonhard and Strickland. *also, only 1 E in Revis
I stand corrected on the specifics...but my general thrust remains: players are overruling the coaches SPECIFIC ORDERS and improvising -- they are seeing something that they think the coach didn't know and therefore they think they're doing the right thing -- but they're hurting the team. It is no different than Sanchez trying to force throws, except an interception from the QB stands out alot more than secondary guys getting beat several times because they were out of position on 10-20-30-40 yard passes.
Alright you two "genius's" owe me a round of beers or shots in an eventual forum get together, tail gate or super bowl party or whatever..............lmao No worries I will get the third round..................
