What EXACTLY makes Gohlston a lousy player?

Nothing except the lack of sacks, which also means nothing to non-casual football fans.

Gholston wasn't going to be a Day 1 starter here, and he's been stashed away by the same guys (Rex and Pettine) who pumped out DE/OLB converts in Baltimore.

He actually looked alright when he started this year, and I expect we'll learn more of his future as this offseason goes on. If they keep him around, then they expect him to be productive within the D next year and I'll expect him to stand out.

If he's cut then he'll probably catch on with the Steelers, Pats, Cardinals, Texans, or some other team looking for a young pass rusher with big time potential.

He catches alot of unnecessary sh*t...but such is life, I guess. Obviously he's disappointing....but who here actually buys that he'd have 0 sacks if he actually started 16 games?

Mangini knew we badly needed a new whipping boy here on TGG. What a great guy....

I was thinking maybe he was going to say that the guys pulled a prank on me and parked my car right in the middle of the practice field now that would of been funny..

I bet that pick was the deciding factor in Woody firing Mangini.

    He's Jamarcus Russel all over.

Anybody who can beat Jake Long 2 times should be able to beat the stiffs on the other teams 3-4 times. The fact that he couldn't scared me. I didn't like the pick -- said so at the time -- and am sick to my stomach I turned out right. I know someone in the Jets scouting department who told me point-blank he would not pick the guy higher than the 3rd Round. That scared the s*** out of me.

We need to vilify at least one guy a year...Mangini, as usual, does his best to accommodate us.

Also amazing is how this pick falls solely on Mangini. Rumor is on draft day he said he'd fire and kill anyone who disagreed with picking Gholston...

It really is a shame the jets didn't take McKelvin like the scouting staff advocated.

I'm sick about that pick. I wanted him picked, and my contact in the Jets scouting department confirmed it.

If I remember a few of the quotes from Ourlads they said, " not a hell-bent for leather player," "looks like he is saving himself," "disappears sometimes," " more of an athlete than a football player."

With apologies to Full Metal Jacket:

(January 2010) Sgt. Rex: Private Gholston, you are a disgusting fatbody and you are in a world of shit!

(September 2010) Sgt. Rex: Private Gholston you are definitely born again hard, hell I may even make you a starting linebacker on my beloved Jets!

    Is this possible?

I think they give him another year. I like him I just think he needs to do more studying maybe, I don't know. It's mind boggling.

There's really no point in not giving him another year unless he really is that much of a disaster.

I want to see what Rex and Pettine do with him...
