Everyone agrees that he has to go? Not going to spend time bashing people this offseason. He's not worthy of wearing green and white on sundays next season. Agreed?
I think he's useful in a nickle zone, but completely outmatched when you ask him to go into man coverage. And speaking of Gholston...JEEEZUS he angers the piss out of me! Bart Scott is unable to play, and this fukking clown can't even step in. We need our backup safety (Ihedigbo) to play linebacker!! We should trade Gholston for a backup punter, and then just cut the punter. Thats how fukking useless Gholston is.
Gholston and Dewayne Robertson...WTF is it with these 'guys moving up fast as we approach the draft' picks ??? Both guys taken ROUNDS EARLY.
I'd be in favor of never drafting a player like that again. Anyone who "shoots up the boards" after the combine is clearly overvalued. He got by in college by overpowering the tackle. He can't do that in the NFL, and he doesn't have any pass-rushing moves.
That's not necessarily true. Mario Williams and Brian Orakpo both shot up the boards due to great combines, and both have become great pass rushers. I do agree with your assessment of Gholston's problems completely though; he just can't get off blocks at this level. Poor scouting and too much fear of the Patriots saddled the Jets with a bust, such is life. As for Coleman, I don't really care what happens to him. There's no question that the Jets are going to bring in at least one new corner, so I'm not too concerned about seeing him on the field often. As long as he's buried deep on the depth chart I see no need to replace a #5 corner who knows the system with one who doesn't.
I say let Rex keep at him he's only 26 and making pretty much the league minimum. There is no harm in keeping him around.
Obviously not...I'm sure they've tried him everywhere. Prob fuks up when he gets the water bottles too.
Exactly......what did anyone expect when you have the #3,#4,and #5 guys playing RCB against Peyton Manning? Just what happened, 23 of 26 attempts torched them.
Cut his ass. Have never liked him. Would of rather put Emanuel Cook out there and put him at nickle then Coleman
Typically, your #9 DB shouldn't be playing so much. But Shep was ineffective, Strickland was hurt, and Lowery wasn't much better, Ihedigbo isn't much in coverage, but let's remember: most teams probably don't even carry 9 defensive backs.
I actually thought he had his moments in nickel sets this season, not and never will be elite, but a good squad player. Keep him
I wanted this guy cut during the 2007 season. He has been torched time and again, and how he made the team this year is a fuckin mystery to me. As soon as Strickland was hurt I knew we were fucked. Did Rex actually think Coleman could play better than Sheppard?! Was Sheppard hurt? I don't understand that shit at all.
