We went to the AFC Championship Game, but we know we have some holes. A pass rushing LB is what we need if we can get one with the 1st rd pick.

I dont think so, I know i keep saying this but Adalius Thomas i think will be avaliable. He wont be pricy either so we could lose a role player and get him. What we need for number 29 is Defensive Back or Reciever, Lineman can be addressed in the later rounds. I dont think we need an immediate impact. Just someone who can learn under jenkins.

All I know is we can't go into the draft with the mentality "let's draft a guy that'll help us beat the Colts."

We need to draft a player that will help us play New York Jets football for years to come. Linemen, both sides of the ball.

wide reciever? If were signing edwards I think were kind of set, at least not at 29, find one in the 6th round like a good organization would do.

Bingo. In the future, we need to be the team dictating to our opponents, not trying to prevent them dictating the game to us the way manning did today.

We just need to lineup and blast people off the ball on offense and we need to bring in a top end pass rusher who can just dominate 1 on 1 and take our defense to the next level

A lineman is important and a given for our draft. But a slot WR IS A MUST!!!! It is a pass happy league, the nfl wants to see passing. It shows a #1 running attack wont cut it. You must be able to pass the ball, Cotch, Bryalon and Kelller are fine. A good slot like golden tate is my choice.

I think people are overreacting a little with the secondary. We generated no pass rush and to me, that is a bigger need.

    1) OLB
    2) Amari Spievey/Slot Receiver

If Golden Tate is available that'd be tough for us to turn down.

Let me clarify. Anyone who would spend our first or second rounder in this draft on a slot reciever doesn't know football. There is a lot said in that small sentence. Few picks, salary cap, picks we spent on Edwards, type of Offense we run and Leon's return. If Leon is on the field no one is even talking about a slot receiver. Our TE is a heck of a slot reciever as well. One more time. It"s repeating the same mistakes of the Bradway/Herm era, who thought after they lost to Pitt that all they needed was a TE and a Kicker. In this Offense the slot would be a package guy who isn't on the field half the time. This is going to be a defensive/ball control team.It would be dumb. Austin Collie 4th rounder, Garcon 6th rounder and Edelman 7th. I can"t think of a team that has used a high pick on the guy who is projected to be the third reciever in a spread formation. Don't tell me Harvin, because he is also a special teams beast.C'mon.

Wes Welker was acquired for a 2nd round pick and a 7th round pick.

Percy Harvin was never a return man in college. He played all over the place in that offense, so his versatility was huge come draft time.

Santonio Holmes and Jeremy Maclin were also first rounders.

It's hard to say what we'll need until FA passes, but I'd imagine DL, DB to be top priorities with urgent need for depth at ILB, OLB, OL and WR. If T-Rich retires is Caulcrick still on the street, is he good enough or do we need to find a lead blocker. We still don't really have a great blocking TE. We probably need another RB if TJ isn't back, which is possible.

The CBA obviously complicates matters further, not to mention new deals for any guys we want to tie up longer-term (Mangold, Harris, Brick, Brad Smith?) and the restrictions on who we can sign (pretty sure that cutting someone doesn't entitle us to replace them with a FA, subject to the other rules on contract value).

Take Norwood at 29 and take a DE with our second pick

1)Welker was an undrafted FA cut by San Diego before he caught on with the Dolphins. After 3 years he was 2nd all time to Gale Sayers in Allpurpose yardage in a players first 3 years. That is what cost a 2 and 7.( you know most of this, don't support a bad arguement)
    2) Maclin was never drafted to be a slot reciever if he is any good he will be a split end. He is also about 6'2-6'3.
    3) Santonio Holmes- sick returner in college. Has been Pitts starting split end since his second season.
    4) Harvin- Didn't return in college because he was so injury prone. Was listed as a RB his last year of college. Returned at NFL combine and Pro day.
If you tell me we are going to draft a guy to return punts and kicks and play the slot because Leon can't do it, I'll buy it. A guy just to be a slot reciever? No.

First and foremost, we need to address OLB. I think that has been pretty clear the entire year. The lack of a 10+ sack guy is holding this defense back from being elite.

I do think Rhodes needs to be traded though. I think people will be surprised what type of value we can get for him. Despite his tackling and toughness problems, he's still an elite coverage safety and makes any secondary much better. We really need a rangy ballhawk back there though and I think if we can get a mid-late 2nd for Rhodes, Rex can take Chad Jones/Nate Allen/Morgan Burnett with one of our three picks.

getting a pass rusher would greatly help our secondary outside of Revis

I think we need to trade down to get more picks for next year.
