The Jets started off the 2nd half with 2 good runs by Greene and it looked like they'd be able to control the ball with the run. Then he comes out and they completely got away from the run. Sanchez was doing a good job passing the ball, but if Greene didn't get hurt, it would have been a much different 2nd half. Greene's injury and Collie's 1st catch in the drive to end the 2nd half are the 2 biggest reasons why the Jets lost.
this is true.... I love that Greene is a rookie and is only going to get better though. I really do feel good about this team... Losing an AFCCG sucks but this team is only going to improve
it ended the game. 7 yard run, hurts rib, another 7 yard run, and he was gone. We will never know what might have been.
Not having Jenkins and Leon hurt us too!!! Okay, okay, how about Strickland's injury hurt our pass defense?
Green's injury definately hurt us quite a bit but I honestly don't think our defense would have stopped the Colts in the second half, regardless.
If we had scored a TD after the fumble, or continued to move the ball with SG after the 2nd half opened, who KNOWS what happens ? Look...I don't know if we win the game. All I know is when Greene was in the game we were winning...when he was out, we lost. I heard alot about how the Colts were winning in December when PM was in the game with the starters so....what's sauce for the goose......
We have got to stop blaming injuries for the loss! Injuries are part of the game, they happen, get over it! The biggest reason that we lost that game was because the Colts were better then us today and Manning picked our D apart. I really felt that out O-line was out played by the Colts in the second half as well, they seemed to be playing on the other side of the LOS. We need to face the facts that we were not the better team this week and start looking forward to the future of this franchise because right now, it is looking bright. Nothing you can do about the past except learn from it and put it behind you!
Bart Scott couldn't walk, Strickland got hurt early, Ellis and Leonhard are playing with 1 hand a piece, I'd say we had an injury prone D today, lol. no excuses though, peyton had us figured out. I do think greene could have helped us control the clock and keep peyton off the field. when the secondary plays that bad you deserve to lose
I think the hugeness of the Greene injury was less about how good Greene is and more about how shitty Thomas Jones is. He's quite shitty, you know.
He is shot. But he wasn't shitty, without Jones the Jets do not sniff the playoffs. The Greene injury was like the pendulum swinging, all the way to the Colts. Cant ground and pound getting 2 yards a carry.
I agree...Greene being hurt changed our gameplan. TJ didn't look strong in the second half and it changed the way we played the game.
I felt that once Greene went out, then it was time to let Sanchez throw more. it looked like Sanchez, Edwards and Cotch and Keller were up to the task today, yet we stuck with "ground and pound" with Jones, when we really needed Greene in there to be as successful as we had been in the other playoff games. Manning was hot then, and we couldn't match him on the ground w/o Greene. I felt the game was lost at that point.
Look at it this way: Greene's injury was the biggest reason the Jets lost, and Peyton Manning was the biggest reason the Colts won (big surprise).
Greene's injury hurt us offensively but I wouldn't say its the reason why we lost. Manning came in the second half, saw the weaknesses in our defense and exploited them. Reason why we lost is because Peyton Manning did what he was supposed to do. He's damn good.
