http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d808736ba&template=with-video&confirm=true It was linked on the first page, but people still seem to be asking some questions about the uncapped year.
What do you guys think is the trade value of Gholston right now? I think he still has a little potential, just enough for someone to bite on him. Would you guys be ok if we trade him to the pats since they really wanted him? Only way we would do that if we get an even deal on him
I think he has potential but no one's going to trade anything for a 2-year bench-warmer with a multimillion dollar contract.
Is that true? Boomer Esaison mentioned we needed to get some free agents this offseason. Could it be he doesn't know the new rule, or is this just a rumor at this point?
If it's an uncapped year which it looks like it will be, can't we get rid of Gholston and not take a big hit? Can someone explain?
If that true, that sucks. Unless we can give the ghost to Al Davis. With his siZe and strength he's probably 15 mil/yr to the raiders.
My understanding is that if there is no interest in a trade (which there probably wouldn't be based on play) then the Jets could just choose to cut him, because of the uncapped year and to free up money, then he would be an unrestricted free agent and he would have to shop himself around. Am I mistaken?
But the question is, can we sign another FA who's cobtrac is equal to what we were paying him or what he gets with his new team?
Peyton definitely made it easy for all of us to see that we need help rushing the passer and in the secondary. This team needs to be built with the Colts in mind. A Pass Rusher, is a must if we expect to beat them.
@Jets42Long: I think we can. Could be wrong though. Sidenote: Mangini sucks, why did he have to get rid of Vilma!
I don't understand how that works? How is anyone going to sign a Free agent is they have to have one signed away from them first? that seems like a conundrum...
I think Vilma wanted out though, we kept franchising him and he didnt seem to like that. However, imagine if Vilma stayed on the Jets...With that in mind, Defense first, then a reciever.
Gholsten's 2010 salary would be irrelevant in an uncapped year. So by cutting him we would absorb his entire accelerated signing bonus in 2010 and would get him off the books for the future capped years. Unless I am missing something this would be an opportunity to get rid of Gholsten.
Man, if Vilma was still here, with David Harris and someone else BESIDES Gholston as a draft pick...I shutter to think how great our Defense would be right now. He was a leader on AND off the field. Just another idiot move by Mangina.
