I just got back from the send off rally at the Jets training center. It was pretty impressive and a lot of fun. There were about 5000 people there, far more than were expected. They had all the fans in the parking lot in front of the facility while the players finished their walk through. 1050 was there live with Lagreca and Buttle. They had a portable fence put up in front of the walkway from the practice field to the training facililty. Of course, Fireman Ed was INSIDE the fence as if he were part of the organization and led numerous J E T S cheers and he also spoke. After the walk through ended, Ryan spoke to the crowd. He thanked the fans and said that back in Indianapolis they were having a rally for the Colts in a bar with about 200 people. Richardson spoke also. Then the players, coaches, and staff (including Tannenbaum) walked down the path to the locker room and slapped and shook hands with the fans who were close enough to reach (I was ). The players were pumped and so was the crowd. There is just something that feels different about this team and the way the fans are reacting towards this team. There is more of an emotional attachment than I remember in years past. In any event, it was great to be a part of that send off today.
The New York Jets facebook page has two videos for whoever is interested. One is Ryan's speech to the team and the other is video from Kerry Rhodes as they go through the fans.
all those videos got me so pumped up!!!!!! we are gonna crush these colts... LETS GOOOGOGOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
THE RALLY WAS ALOT OF FUN------I think Rex was blown away by how many people showed, even my kid said ,dad He sounded real surprised , while looking out I thought he said OMG---------anyways we had a blast my kid was on my shoulders--wearing his Jet Superbowl Jacket and we even got interviewd on the way in by NBC--all thats left is GOOOOOOOOOOOO JETS!!
JetsBabe went. She said she was gonna get some pix up on here.... I woulda gone but My car is in the shop
Yea, it was fun. They made us wait a little while longer than expected, but it was still worth it. No pictures from me though, I had forgotten my phone in the car and didn't want to lose my spot in line.
We took the kids. It was brief, but very cool. I can't believe the amount of people that came out - it was crazy! On a side note, anyone ever go to the McDonalds in Florham Park? It is decked out in Jets stuff - pictures hanging, helmets dipslayed, staff wearing jerseys, even has helmets painted on the tables! The kids thought it was the coolest thing ever.
My pics are as bad as the video I sent you. Back of peoples heads and alot of screaming.. Other people had great views and much better shots..Still wouldn't have missed it for anything! Can't wait for tomorrow!!
