would we not have still gotten in on the first tiebreaker over Houston? You know the one where we beat them?
I'm confused. I don't mean to give you a hard time about this and if I'm wrong about it, so be it. The 3 teams you're talking about would've been the Jets, Steelers and Texans. We ALL would've finished with a Conference record of 6-6, yet, the Texans who we beat earlier in the year would get in because of "common opponents"? What the hell are common opponents and how does a team we've beaten on a head-to-head get in before us?
because in a 3 team tie breaker it never goes to head to head because theres 3 teams. Just because we beat the texans doesnt mean pitt gets eliminated. Its not fair to pitt, who never even played the Texans. So the tie breaker rule are as follows: AFC record, then common opponents. Only way a team gets in over the other team is if they beat both those teams they are tied with. Which in this case does not apply.
Here it is from NFL.com. Head-to-head only applies in a 3+ team scenario if ONE of those teams has lost to ALL of the others in question:

Got it. Thanks Jett Jett and Talisman for clarifying that. I just realized the Steelers never played the Texans.
