Let me preface with this: I was really nervous in the first quarter. I saw a Chargers team pumped up and ready to play well. Much like I saw a Bengals team pumped up and ready to play well in the first quarter. Our team is built to weather the storm in the first half and then break opponents' wills in the second. That's exactly what happened against both those teams. Hell, that's what happened against most of the teams we've beat this year. I saw effective production from the Pats (1st time) the Panthers, even the Bills (second time) before they "melted down" in the second half. Is it just a coincidence? Fuck no! It's our gameplan. The o-line just keeps chopping that wood in the first half; Shaun Phillips loses his cool in the second. Revis Christ harasses Vincent Jackson in the first half; V-Jax loses his composure in the second. The defense puts solid hits on Rivers in the first half; Rivers communicates poorly with his wide-outs in the second. You can all get together with the Bengals fans and the Colts fans next Monday and talk about how your team was better, they just uncharacteristically broke down. Except for the fact they we all told you before the respective games that this is exactly how the Jets are going to beat you. It's not a breakdown if we break you.
seriously...i'm getting really sick and tired of all these punks discounting every single win we have had....we are gonna show them on sunday and then AGAIN they will make excuses... bring the pain
Joe Namath is a swinger who has long hair, wears fur coats and wears pantyhose under his uniform in December. That's where the lack of respect started. Then he went out and guaranteed the Jets would beat the Colts and they did. That sealed in the simmering juices. Then the Jets found every possible way not to win another Super Bowl for 40 years. That feeds it to this day. The upstart Jets were the second team in town after the Giants from the moment they were formed. They even had a cheap ripoff of the name, "Titans", when they started playing, a mistake that the ownership corrected quickly. What will change that? A few Super Bowl wins in the next decade. It did wonders for the Patriots, who were also given little or no respect until Parcells showed up. It took Belichik and Brady to seal the deal for them. Now the Jets are post-Parcells and maybe Ryan and Sanchez can kill the disrespect.
Actually the Diff. between us being 11-5 & our 9-7 record is the breaks that did go our way unfortunetly something broke on Jenkins & something Broke on Leon ,I can`t waittill we get these guys back next Season ,combined with the talent already here and entering that new stadium with our team walking in with our Super Bowl Trophy.
Your right, especially with the "few Super Bowl wins in the next decade." part. If we win this year, it will be because "we were let in" and "we got lucky" crap. I dont care about their opinions, we are here, they are not, and there is nothing they can say or do to get rid of us. Our destiny is in our own hands!!
EXACTLY.... Because all the pressure had nothing to do with it. Because disguising our Defense had NOTHING to do with it. Did you see the painic when Rivers threw the pic to Leonhard??? Or how our D-line DOMINATED the running game? no...because SD let that happen right? I'll say it again.. You don't lay down...WE LAY YOU DOWN!
Geez, you guys have been out of the loop for a while.... These things happen when you put out a team in the post season... Thats how rivalries are started... The hatred for your team is RESPECT... No one hates Detroit, get it? Maybe if you guys can manage it get in the playoffs more often, you can drop the silly, low-life Dolphins as your main rivals... Dan Marino is long gone, whats left to hate?
You don't get it because you've been a COLTS fan. And most likely a "New one". You will never understand what it is to have a Rivalry that goes way back.
a chargers fan but your favorite player in the league is peyton manning? what kind of busch league shit is that?
Dude a division rival is a division rival, you should always hate them no matter how bad they are, because they are your main competition. Those should be your main rivals, because you play them twice a year, every year. :manning:
Im aware of the history... I was a Colts fan in 84 when we were in the AFCLeast... I live in South Florida and have attended Jets/Fins games... I rooted for the Jets, because I too hated Danny boy... He lived in my neighborhood and ate at my work and dissected my beloved Colts... The Fins are a laughing stock now, they don't deserve hate/respect anymore...
You play New England twice... Their arch-rivals are the Colts, an ex-division foe... All Im saying is, welcome the hate... String a few good years together and maybe you can upgrade your rivalries....
I am a COLTS fan and I don't hate the JETS and have had a good experience on your board talking about the game. I hate Rivers and his mouth. Glad you beat them. I only hate two teams and their fan bases PATRIOTS. Yeah they won 3 super bowls but I have yet to read anything other than hate and arrogance from the PATRIOT fan base. Baltimore fans want to talk hate about everything but football. They trash talk my state, our capitol city we stole the COLTS it never ends. We're all HICKS in Indiana. Well I can't speak for INDY residents I live in rural Indiana in a town of 5000 people so I guess I am a HICK,I've been called worse so big deal. Where a person chooses to live and raise a family has nothing to do with a football game but you can't convince RAVENS fans of that from the comments I saw last week.
