It's official. I'll take a reserved approach here, but that seemed an awfully long time to take to hire a guy that was available when Jauron was fired. I hope Nix and Gailey can get it done. I'm sure you guys can sympathize with the Bills plight.

BTW, I think you guys have officially become the team to beat in the AFC East. Good job. I can't wait until next year.:breakdance:

I'm not as down on this hire as most people are. Gailey isn't the sexiest candidate, but he's actually been pretty successful in the NFL--it's not his fault that Jerry Jones applies ridiculous standards to his coaches. Appearing in the playoffs for as many years as Gailey did while a coordinator is impressive as well.

Plus, the fact that Bill Cowher recommended Gailey (and not Ken Whisenhunt or Russ Grimm) to replace him in Pittsburgh speaks volumes to me.

Wow. Horrible hire. I thought Jauron was bad but Chan Gailey? Holy crap!

Good luck Buffalo, sorry to say you'll need it.

How exactly is Gailey worse than Jauron?

I heard that Gailey's first transaction is to sign undrafted GA Tech QB Reggie Ball to be his new starting QB. They are going to work all off season to perfect the 4th down throw away pass!

I think the Bills are trying to alienate their fans so that they have an excuse to pick-up and leave Toronto, oops I mean Buffalo for La La land.

Good point. It's like comparing two turds. Not impossible, but in the end, they are both turds.

Gailey has atleast ran some good offenses in his time. He's an upgrade from Jauron imo but I can see why Bills fans would be dissapointed.

Why go with a retread here? Not sure I like it and certainly if I am a Bills fan I am not very excited. There are a lot of good coaches in the AFC East now, I think you have to think out of the box. This definitely doesn't make anyones toes tingle.

"It's time to clean house Ralph." Ring a bell?

This is not cleaning house, it's just moving into another dirty one.

The Jauron signing was strange for all the same reasons this signing of Gailey is. The Bills just hired a re-tread who was fired during the season as an offensive coordinator for god sakes. He hasn't been a head coach in 12 years. He's 58 years old whose head coaching experience coincided with the "Big 3" being well established in Dallas. Shoot, ever Switzer won with those guys. Now he takes on a Bills team with no star power or QB. He is destined to fail.

At least Jauron was a Head Coach within a decade of his hiring although not a very good one.

Why not go with a young talent if you could not get Cowher. Damn Brian Billick would have been a better choice.

Leslie Fraiser should have been the pick. Gailey will be okay, but with Ryan in Bellichick in the division, I am not sure he will be able to make the Bills great. Sparano might be worse though. Man I hate that guy.

I hear ya on that one. Ralph did boast those words only to come up short. He is an upgrade over DJ though. Not much but an upgrade nonetheless. Depending on the coordinators, he could turn the Bills around more than anyone else has in the last decade. It'll be tough, no doubt, but at this point what else can I do but hope this crazy old coot drinks from the same well that Levy did in 1986. At least Nix is responsible for drafting. I have far more reason to be excited just on that alone, but this will be a hell of a challenge. I can't wait to hear TO's spin after he's off the team.

You hate Sparano why?? It wouldn't have something to do with him being 3-1 when coaching against the Jets, or him being 2-0 against R. Ryan now would it??...

I fear Gailey won't get the player respect based on his checkered past. In my opinion the Bills would have been better served getting a younger coach more in tune to the players.

Ralph Wilson won't be around much longer...neither will Gailey.

Nix boasted that many coaches called to interview but, considering the choice of Gailey, I very much doubt that...or at least they were coaches no where near he ability to HC an NFL team.

Really happy we lucked out with Sexy Rexy.

I would have gone with Frazier as the HC and Gailey as the OC (since they like him so much)... I mena the guy was without work anyways so he would have accepted to ocme to the Bills as an OC... and imo Frazier is much more capable/suited to be a head coach.
