Ok guys... I'm of the opinion we are one WR/TE away from having a complete versatile offense. Let's put the tape on the best prospects at the position (I'll do it some other time for TEs) to compare them. Since the ratings can change soo much from here till the draft I'll put footage of every highly rated WR even if it's a given (right now) they'll be chosen before our pick.

    1) Dez Bryant - 6'2" 210lbs - Oklahoma State

    2) Damian Williams - 6'1" 190lbs - USC

    3) Brandon Lafell - 6'3" 209lbs - LSU

    4) Golden Tate - 5'11" 195lbs - Notre Dame

    5) Arrelious Benn - 6'2" 214lbs - Illinois

    6) Eric Decker - 6'2" 215lbs - Minnesota

    7) Marshawn Gilyard - 6'1" 180lbs - Cincinnati

    8) Jordan Shipley - 6'0" 195 lbs - Texas

    9) Demaryius Thomas - 6'3" 229lbs - Georgia Tech

    10) Freddie Barnes - 6'0" 206lbs - Bowling Green

    11) Taylor Price - 6'0" 196lbs - Ohio

Any other guy you want me to add? If you find better vids please post them :)

After watching these vids I got a hard on for Tate and Shipley... If we draft them I'll be estatic... especially Shipley... that would be awesome! Kid is also a great PR and he will be the next Welker in the NFL. Tate is what Harvin would be if he was a real WR instead of the hybrid he is (which is still great mind you but a bit raw).
Barnes is a black Cherbet :p
Damian Williams is great but we already have Cotch where he plays.

    enjoy the view :)

I'm not a fan of Brandon LaFell. Tate, Benn, and Gilyard are higher in my rankings.

Demaryius Thomas from Georgia Tech has a chance to be a first rounder.

Mike Williams out of Syracuse is a high risk/high reward player.

I really like Bowling Green's Freddie Barnes as a developmental slot prospect - the guy runs great routes and knows how to get open and find the endzone.

I agree watching Lafell, he has made huge improvements but he is still not high on my list. I have Williams as my number one WR

Williams is a faster and more elusive version of Cotchery.

Mambo...great post, nice job with collecting the videos.

Dez Bryant has big play potential......could be an outstanding player with the right system.

D Williams the most polished, NFL ready WR. Outstanding route runner with great YAC and return skills. If he's still on the board, which is doubtful, the Jets may get Sanchez's guy.

Goden Tate...what can you say....I love this kid's game...great hands...best in this class. Jimmy C's play action passes were awesome.

Eric Decker...not flashy, but moves the chains and makes the tough catch.

Bandon Lafell...I don't hate Lafell, but he's more of a finesse player. Can make big plays, inconsistent at times.

Freddie Barnes...the human highlight film....perfect for the Jets in the slot. I won't complain drafting FB with our late rd 2 pick. If FB went to a big time program...Top Ten player.

I feel like a player like Decker belongs on this team. He would fit right in with the other scrappy players we have. He always seems to fight for those extra yards. He would make an excellent slot receiver and would offer another target for those third down passes, outside of Keller and Braylon...

You think Decker might opt to play pro baseball instead?

...and pull a Jeff Samardzija?? I hope not!!!

He's a very good outfielder has a decent batting avg.

Maybe the injuries will change his mind to play B-ball.

Really? I never considered Benn "superb" running routes.

Watch D.Williams he's the best by far of all the WRs entering the draft.

All I know is that I have hard-ons for Golden Tate and Freddie Barnes, and since I wouldn't expect the Jets to use a first rounder on a receiver, that leaves me praying for Barnes to be in green in 2010. You want a weapon loaded offense? Edwards, Cotchery, Keller, Washington and Greene are already here, but if you throw Barnes in that mix, it's just a matter of keeping decent replacements around for when Faneca and Woody are done. In this case, all that Sanchez has to do for the offense to be scary is not shit the bed. (Though admittedly there are holes here, like a younger fullback and a complete tight end, and we still don't know Leon Washington's recovery status)

    Thanks WW :)

I know, I actually love Williams more than any other reciever in this draft... my problem is how do you use him in a Jets offense? Do you make Cotch go through the middle?

    G. Tate, J. Shipley or F. Barnes would fill in a lot better.

The cool thing about Tate is opposing O's would never know who is going deep and who is going short between Edwards and Tate. At first it's an obvious choice but if you think about it Edwards is great in catching in traffic and Tate (like the vid shows) can really get separation from the DBs in play actions and catch the deep ball. I'd be thrilled to have this versatility on O.

Shipley is a great punt returner plus he always hustles on every play. I love that style in a Jets offense.

Barnes is just SOLID. With him and Cotch it's almost guaranteed the catch 99% of what's thrown to them (ergo, an advantage in 3rd down situations).

I re-watched tapes of Tate, Shipley and Barnes better... I WANT SHIPLEY!!! I have serious man-love for the way he plays... he's as agile as Tate but just puts in sooo much hustle on every play! Plus he catches a lot more passes in the middle and turns them into big gains and he is an EXCELLENT punt returner.

Please please please let it be we somehow end up with Shipley on this team!!!

I just really hope we get an elite Punt Returner, it's such an overlooked position, Cotchery is solid but I want a guy with home run ability on punts.

If we can get that and a #3 receiver (as far as I'm concerned we don't have a #3 WR on the roster, we have a 1a, 1b, and 4) and elite PR, I'd be so happy.

Tate and Williams are the guys I want the most, I wouldn't be upset with Gilyard or Shipley though.

If Williams is on the board I see us definitely taking him, Sanchez would love it.

I know... but the idea of seeing those plays by a guy in a green and white jersey... WoW.

I know one of his knocks is he's had a couple of injuries... anything else worth noting?

I REALLY like Williams... my problem is I don't think he fits in well with Edwards and Cotchery...

Studying the tapes, I was extremely impressed with William's Y.A.C., something I never fully realized. I always thought Williams had good hands, exceptional route running ability and a great red zone target.

I still agree we need a slot reciver, but let's not over anaylze the situation. Can't pass on a special player....like Tate or Williams if available, they both have to be on a short list, with other possible positions for the Jet's Rd 1 pick.

Sanchez needs more weapons, even if they don't fit the exact mold of a slot receiver. Keller makes alot of plays over the middle. If Damian Williams is still available ....the Jets are strongly going to consider selecting him....Sanchez will lobbying big time.

Stuckey is going to develop into that special slot receiver..still would rather have Edwards.
