Where is Shuler Jr. projected to go as of now? Or rather, what round is he worth picking in?

Shuler Jr. is a projected mid-round pick, so he'll likely go between the 4th and 6th rounds.

In my opinion, he's worth about a 5th rounder...for this team. We have other needs that should be filled first.

I have a feeling Mike Tannenbaum will try to get another offensive weapon. Remember, he tried to trade back into 2009's first round for Percy Harvin, so he obviously knows we have a need for a slot receiver.

If a guy like Golden Tate is available when we're on the board in the first, I wouldn't be surprised if he's the pick.

I'd be really happy if we came out of this draft with Freddie Barnes or Mardy Gilyard though.

There is no doubt the Jets will acquire a WR.

Gilyard, Decker, Shipley & Barnes are all options.

BTW....Don't miss the East/West Shrine game this Saturday.....Freddie Barnes is playing.

I decided to bump this because things have changed a little bit since January.

I posted this in another thread, but it also fits here.

I'd really like for the Jets to come away with depth at multiple positions in 2010. We certainly have enough to picks to address a few key areas.

Teams needs have shifted a little bit, especially after the LT signing.

    1. DL Depth (Defensive end mostly)
    2. DB Depth (Nickel/Dime back and safety)
    3. OL Depth (Left guard and right tackle)
    4. 3-4 OLB (Developmental pass rusher)
    5. Skill Positions (Slot receiver and developmental running back)

The Jets have enough talent and time to draft a few developmental players...

Tomlinson will be a Jet for 2 years, so we can pass on a running back for the time being.

Faneca and Woody will be starters until they can no longer go. The problem is, they won't be able to go much longer. I'm not really sure what we have with Matt Slauson, but even if he's a capable player, we still need depth at guard. Right tackle could become a huge hole.

I wonder if Ciron Black might drop to the 4th. I've read all kinds of projections on the kid: some have his floor in the 2nd, some in the 5th. I know I was shocked at how far Duke Robinson and Herm Johnson fell last year.

We could plug Black into three different spots on the o-line and he's ultra-durable.

Did you notice I left him off of my short list of mid round linemen?

I don't want him anywhere near our offensive line.

Black is a lot less versatile than people think. He's got decent athleticism for lineman, but he has shitty footwork and he's slow as hell. I think he'd take a long time develop and he'd only be able to play guard at the next level.

Scott is a guy that's going to fall because of a pretty poor work-out... he'll be there in the 5th IMO. I would REALLY like us to draft a RT to develop. As far as drafting a LG to me it's either Iupati in rd 1 or nothing... I think Turner and Slauson could be developed in something nice and we either go with a significant upgrade or IMO it's not worth it.

Adam Ulatoski also could be a nice pick as a RT project...

Ulatoski just keeps sliding and sliding. I'm not big on really tall linemen. A lot of the time, they don't work out at the next level.

After workouts, Chris Scott looks more like a guard than a tackle to me. We need help at both positions, so Scott would be a nice pick in the later rounds.

Kyle Calloway is one of the more underrated right tackle prospects right now. If he's there in the fourth, the Jets should take him.

Rodger Saffold is one of my top players for the Jets right now. ...because of his athleticism and versatility, Saffold should be able to play either guard spot and right tackle.

I am/was high on Calloway... in the 4th he is definetly value... problem is, will he be there? IMO he's going in the third... I have to study some on Saffold...

I'm intrigued by the kid as well.

He is only starting to reach his potential.

    I like him too.

He's got the potential to be an elite run blocker in this league.

Agreed. I think I'm hoping for us to get him the most just because I think he'd be coached up well.
