Oh, I apologize GreenMachine. Forgive me for happening to be an Iowa fan as well as a Jets fan. I joined the forum today because I was looking for a place to talk football for the few hours of downtime I had today. Yes, I'm in Iraq, though i'm not sure how that is exactly relevant in this discussion.

I'm simply saying that Asomugha, while nasty good maybe gets a bit too much hype?

Once again, I apologize for offending your great wisdom and clear thought. Next time I will contribute nothing to the conversation.

haha that was funny. Yeah I actually watch it because I love it when Skip Bayless talks his shit. Because he talk mad shit like when he went one on one with Chad Johnson. This one he actually disrespected nnamdi which i was like oh my damn.

Oh I also watch sports Nation man michelle beadle is hot.

How does he get too much hype? You could make a case that revis gets too much hype.

Maybe part of why Asomugah only gets thrown on maybe once a game is the other players on his team sucks so much.

Personally I wish the nfl (or any website) kept stats on how many recieving yards cornerbacks let up so you could really see how great Revis is.

And then you sure as hell wouldnt have that bum Woodson as DPOTY

But Revis gets hype especially now that the Jets are in the AFC game. But they are both equal in hype. But when you talk CB in the league Revis and Nnamdi are both regarded at the the best then Charles

As of Week 14 he had allowed 246 yards this year. And QBs averaged a 102.9 passer rating on balls thrown his way. I'm not sure exactly as far as the rest of the season after that as my internet is slow as hell so it takes about 5 minutes to do a solid search for the figures.

While you could make the case that those stats are misleading, I'm just saying that the man is only human. Yet Raider fans and semi-informed football viewers instantly assume he is some sort of downfield force shield or something.

Is the man Pro-bowl material? Absolutely. Would I rate the man as number one or two? Absolutely not.

Im just making the case that he stands out on a team where specialists are the most visible.

It would be great if we signed Nnamdi Asomugha we would have lock down corners on both sides of the field.. Also Asomugha would have to work into rex's system where he moves around because with that you just give QB fits because they cant guess what your doing.

In other News Ed Reed was 50/50 about calling his career quits. Now I personally think he is just tired of losing over there in Baltimore so if we could entice him to come over that would be two players we dont have to search from in the draft. Then focus on the DT DE or OLB Olineman and WR

Id rather let Leonard/Rhodes play then bring in Reed. While Reeds a stud he only has maybe 2-3 seasons left in him. Rather have our young studs do their thing.

And Lito Sheppard has some SERIOUS potential. The was a perennial probowler. And now that the jets retained him, its time for us to hope he returns to form.

Odds of the jets getting a probowl free agent are close to 0, only way even possible for us to get a free agent would be if we cut leon/braylon loose which means we would just need to replace them anyway

I havent read too deeply as far as safeties go -- but Taylor Mays is the big noise maker this year. But coverage-wise I haven't been particularly impressed. And he definitely appears to need to work on wrapping up, rather than just hitting the offense hard.

Couldn't we cut gholston and sign someone who is making equal or less money which would likely= a pro bowler since he is making like 6 million a season?

Asomugah has the franchise tag on em

Then again the Raiders were dumb enough to give up one of the best wrs in the nfl for next to nothing.

The best CB tandem in the history of the NFL is either D. Minnefield & H. Dixon of the early 80s Browns or L. Hayes & M. Haynes of the late 70s Raiders. If the Jets ever got Asomugha, he and Revis would INSTANTLY become the greatest tandem ever.

Gholston would have to be signed by another team at that value for us to get a big-time FA.

The Raiders will have to franchise Seymour or lose him (I'd be beyond shocked if he chose to re-sign with them).
