Rex Ryan "we beat them by 14 points. Its not like we eaked out a one point lead. I know we played against the jv team but they all put a colts uniform on." This guy is too funny...... Must make the team feel good they beat the JV by 14 points.
Pathetic thought, this is the same team that hasn't been in the Super Bowl in 40 years and hasn't been in an AFC Championship game in over a decade, never ever take playoff runs for granted
I hear you Royal Tee...i know what i'm saying sounds kinda silly. I'm really just saying is that all we need as a franchise is to GET TO the Super Bowl this year. We have so many good young players and the best coach in the league that i know this is only the beginning. Of course i'll take a Super Bowl win...i just don't want the value of this playoff run to get lost in the mess of new fans and non-stop media coverage about it. People don't understand what it's like to be a Jets fan, how tough it is, how many crazy things have happened to the team and it's fans...unless you're really a Jets fan you can't understand what SOJ means. Maybe Red Sox fans before winning the world series could understand...Cubs fans...thats about it. My bro is a Tampa Bay fan, and he hated what happened to them after winning the super bowl in a rather unexpected run. It became cool to wear Bucs gear, the team changed, the attitude changed, and they'll be hard pressed to get back there for a long long time. I like our strange nation of fans who understand each other because of what we've all been through. But then again, maybe a new generation of fans who EXPECT the Jets to win because they saw them make this run and win the super bowl is just what we need. I'm just a jumble of emotions right now, and I want to absorb it all nice and slowly. Did i make any sense at all?
You can only play who the other team puts on the field. It's not Rex's fault that your depth players all suck a donkey dick.
Our Super Bowl games have started weeks ago, with each week bigger then the next. The AFC championship game is another "Super Bow" on the way to the real deal. It will be nice buying AFC Champions gear but it'll be even sweeter buying Jets Super Bowl gear. Onward and Upward-
No, you're doin just fine..we're all a jumble right now. But let me say this..you may think "...i just don't want the value of this playoff run to get lost in the mess of new fans and non-stop media coverage about it." but as long as you , as a JETS fan live to enjoy the moment you just can't give 2 fuks about anyone else. You put in the tears over the years and now are enjoying it. Honestly, I embrace the underdawg roll.... I've been saying all week "SHOCK THE WORLD!" Look at it this way, just take on the mentality of Rex and our 2k9 JETS and FUCK what they think of us!
I am enjoying the ride but let me tell you something--there are NO SURE THINGS , you never know when you will be in this position again! You can say theres always next year but you never know where you will be NEXT YEAR--injuries could happen, a season could end or continue on a lucky bounce
Good points Royal Tee. I'll stop thinking ahead. This is just awesome. Way better than 98, 02 and 04 put together. This is what being a true fan is all about!!! People who jump on the bandwagon of good teams will NEVER understand the feeling that all of us Jets fans have right now.
Let's not take this special playoff run for granted, let's strap up, and enjoy the ride! If we lose to the Colts, we lose to the Colts. But If we win, we win.
Well said. Yesterday, I figured we were playing with house money and another playoff game would just give our team more experience for the upcoming season. After yesterday, we are 60 minutes of football away from a SB berth...this year....I don't wanna wait!!!!
One thing age gives you is perspective. You absolutely cannot take anything for granted. Especially chances of a lifetime. If this team goes into Sunday assuming that this opportunity can come around again at some point? That would ensure defeat. They have to play every down as if its the last down of 4th qtr. The only way there is a tomorrow is if they win on Sunday. If they look at this any other way? They might as well not show up.
In 1998, we were up 10-0 at halftime over the Broncos and I was starting to get a bit giddy at the thought of what was happening. We needed 1 more TD to put them away. Then, quickly it all fell apart. Disappointing as it was, I said to myself, OK, in '99 we'll get it done. You know what happened to Vinny on Opening Day in '99. That was 11 years ago. In 1998 we would have anihillated the Falcons, by the way. The time to win is NOW... GET IT DONE! There is no house money. :manning:
Yep!! The old comment of "maybe next year" wore out its welcome a long, long time ago. Only one SB and a couple AFCCG appearance's in 40+ years? Win now!!!
You don't play for next year. 1999 was supposed to be our year. 2003 was supposed to be our year. 2005 was supposed to be our year. Look what happened each time. This has been a great and unexpected ride, and while I know what the OP is trying to say, :shit: and you play to win now. All the Jets fans we are fortunate to have here who remember Super Bowl III didn't think it would take over 40 years for another chance. Personally, I've watched enough of my teams get to the finals and fail to get the job done. I won't feel any better about this season if the Jets make it to Super Bowl XLIV and lose. Win it all the first time, then worry about the dynasty. It beats the hell out of being a consistent force in every round except the last, or worse, a flash in the pan that was great for one year but not great enough.
Attention Colt fans Hi, we get it, you have Peyton Manning. If he goes down you have no team. Still watching him is amazing, and Ill be proud to tell my kids that I saw Peyton play in his prime. On to the Jets and our fans... Why the heck should we not be confident? Do we have anything to lose?? We are 1 of 4 teams left with a rookie at head coach, running back, and QB. I don't believe in house money, but I do know that if the Colts lose, heads will roll. :manning:
