I actually wanted to punt--but it's great that "playing not to lose" is finally dead, all the Mangini years ingrained that strategy into my head.
That was a dumb comparison on his part. That was a first down if Kevin Faulk knew where he was on the field. I read a statistical analysis somewhere that basically concluded that Belichick made the right call in that game. Besides, a six-point lead wouldn't have done squat over three. Kaeding obviously chokes when he sees green. I was more concerned about Rivers leading a final TD drive, which I didn't believe would happen either. Going for it was the right call. I trust the Jets' offensive line to make enough of a push to create the possibility of positive yardage more often than not.
I went on the record with everyone before the play that it was the right call no matter what happened - and before they ran it I kept repeating " we're not the same old jets, we're not the same old Jets"! TJ and the line kicked their ass!
Punting would have been straight, pin them deep inside the 10 maybe even 5. But fuck it, the Jets are the best short yardage team in the NFL play to your strength!
It was a good call by Beli and it should have been a first. Unfortunately refs do make mistakes sometimes.
This is exactly why I love this guy. He basically said, "Where the fuck you guys goin? Get back on the fucking field and get that god damn yard." Name one of our recent coaches that would have gone there on fourth down... That's right, none of them.
We were fucked over by false prophets.. "You play to win the game" but you don't Mangenius...uh not really and now, FINALLY a coach with a large pair of cojones!!! THANK YOU REX!! even though the gameplan was a little too conservative
Didn't we all know this man was going for it? It is a breath of fresh air. Not Herm and his conservative calls huh?
That was the only one I could think of when we were talking about it after the game. All of us wanted them to go for it. Number 1 rushing team, excellent OL and a defense that spent a lot of the 2nd half on the field. Too many reasons to do it.
i really enjoy his press conferences dude has a great sense of humor probably a fun coach to play for dungy a winner but man he was boring, caldwell seems nice but another dry toast personality having said that dungy = winner
Nice saidly!!! Darn thing we have been lackinf for many years! Confidence! Even if we loose this week to Indy (and we wont) I Love Rex and his attitude!
I can't remember which is correct: One time doesn't make you a fag or Suck one cock and you are branded for life. You would think a Jonas Brother or some foo-foo guy would make a Jet fan gay not a Big Fat Guy.......... Lucky for Scik, he is safe.
