Did you all see the play where Rivers threw it deep and Revis was in man to man? He was never more than 8 inches away from the WR and was in better position than the WR when the ball was thrown. He also always keeps an eye on the QB. I've never seen a defensive player with his cover skills/instincts.
Yeah and he put un the fucking burners and blew by Jackson, he is fast. Jackson may have gotten by with an OPI on that to prevent a Revis int.
Fairly sure he gave up just one reception, and it was for a loss of 3 yards... A feat only He could achieve.
I was at the bar, and some non-JETS fan friends showed up. They all laugh (half in disgust) at my blasphemous "REVIS CHRIST" proclamations (my girlfriend hates it too). After that pick, I stood up and yelled SEE, YOU'RE WITNESSING THE MIRACLES OF REVIS CHRIST. They couldn't argue. :jets:
I think the best part of Revis' game yesterday was actually one of the times that he was covering Gates - he handled that monster from the LOS to 5 yards out and totally fucked up his route. Revis is a BEAST.
Yea, I saw that as well. Revis jammed the hell out of him and took him out of the play right from the snap. We're talking a guy who is 5'11 and only weighs around 200 lbs jamming a guy who is 6'5, 250 lbs and making him look bad. Revis is amazing.
Revis has proven he can shut down anyone, from the small speedsters of Steve Smith, the Physical guys like Andre Johnson and TO, the tall guys like Jackson, an averaged size route runner in Chad Ochocinco and Reggie Wayne, and a Pro Bowl TE. He has no weakness.
Does that even count as a pass given up by a cornerback? Obviously it's pretty difficult for a CB to defend a pass behind the line of scrimmage. Not that it matters - it's just amazing that he is playing at such a high level, week in and week out. I would expect that unlike this week, next week he'll stick to one person (Wayne), but I wonder if they would consider putting him on Dallas Clark occasionally.
I believe we would have ideally wanted him on Jackson all day, but SD did a good job of reading our zone defenses, and moved Jackson into a better matchup. We had better believe Indy will try the same thing. Our other DB's had better be prepared and step up.
